This Is the Sweet Spot Of Your Life
"I should have known you wouldn't sleep much," Natasha said in Russian as she walked around the living room with Nick against a shoulder. "Your brother and sister didn't sleep much either." Her voice was barely above a whisper as she spoke to her son. The child didn't know what sleep meant, but it just proved that he was a Stark and a Romanov.

Natasha stopped walking for a moment and took a quick peak to see if Nick was sleeping. His eyes were closed and a thumb was shoved in his mouth. Finally! She had been walking the living room for the past hour trying to get him back to sleep. It was three in the morning and Natasha wanted to be snuggled up next to her husband and asleep.

Five more minutes and then she can put him down and go to bed.

Tony wakes up with bleary eyes and notes that his wife is not next to him, as she had been for time immemorial (around nine-thirty, when they'd fallen asleep watching a movie or some such. Damn he hated being old), and so he got up to go check on her. She'd probably decided to go and check on Eddie and now she was asleep with him.

He'd have to talk to his son about trying to steal his wife, but that would come later.

He checks the nursery and doesn't see them, so then he goes to the living room, where he finds Tasha holding the munchkin.

He leans against the wall and watches, admiring the sight of his wife with their son.

Natasha turned to find her husband watching her and Nick. Her eyes met his and a slow smile stretched her mouth. Tony had always been a handsome man, but right now standing there in his pajama bottoms and with tousled hair he never looked better.

"Looks like we're not the only ones who can't sleep," she said softly.

She walked toward Tony. "Another one who won't sleep," she whispered.

Tony yawns and smiles back.

"Hey, I was sleeping great until I woke up and found out my wife left me for a younger man." Tony whispers, kissing her lips. Then he looks down at Eddie.

"Is he okay? He's not sick is he?" he asked, a note of worry in his voice. Anya didn't get sick often as a baby, but when she did, it was bad. He wanted to make sure Eddie would be okay.

"He's nearly a year old." Tony says softly. "Where did the time go? We just brought him home yesterday, it feels like."

	"He's fine," she assured her husband. "Just can't sleep. Remember how Anya used to be? Still is," Natasha corrected. She smiled. "I know. Time flies. Anya's going to be nineteen in a few weeks." 	"I'll do that." Tony smiles, going to the kitchen to get the tea ready. He also pulls out a box of shortbread cookies to go with the tea, then sits down in a chair. 	Natasha very carefully put Nick in his crib, holding her breath as she did. She silently prayed that he didn't wake up. She waited for a moment and then tip-toed out the door. 	"You not being there woke me. But we're here now." Tony says, going to get the kettle as soon as the water is hot. Once the tea is ready, he pours some for Tasha, then himself. "Halloween is coming up. What should we do for costumes this year?" he asks. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	"I like plan two. We can send them somewhere nice, and then I'll take you for a getaway...but not to Martha's Vineyard. Never again with the ring that switches bodies. We should go to Hawaii.
