Testing! All the pretty lights
Jess is staring into the pantry. This is scary. Someone had bought all of her favorite things.

And what looks to be like everyone else's too. She raises one eyebrow and then the other. For a moment she isn't sure if she should laugh or not. Instead she shakes her head and moves to sit on a stool in the big and very shiny looking kitchen at their new head quarters.

She is hungry but all the food that appeals to her different tastes is off putting just a bit. It's too easy. That's when she gets a bright idea.

She starts to dig around for materials. She'll try making pizza. That will make things just hard enough to be interesting.

There's a flash of indigo light as Harry teleports in.

He's purposefully teleported to the kitchen since he's pretty much emptied his fridge back home. For a moment he's surprised to see Jess there but notices she's got the ingredients out for a pizza. Or he hopes so. Perfect oppurtunity to lend a hand.

"Umm hey Jess. You need help with the pizza? I'm okay with any toppings. Well...do you think we could put some mushrooms on?" Oh wait what if people don't like mushrooms?

"I mean-! Well you can put it on only my part. Or not at all, either way is good. I don't want to be too much trouble."

Wow he's gotten himself flustered already. Okay, stay calm....

He moves over to help her fish for materials in the unnaturally large pantry.

Florian stuck his head in the kitchen as he walked by hearing the talk of pizza. Still a bit wary of the situation he's recently found himself in he steps into the room.

"How were you planning on making your sauce? I know a great recipe from scratch...it'd take a couple of minutes, but I could prepare that."

He'd learned to make a lot of things during his mom's treatments when she was too weak to cook herself.

With her life turned more upside down than some by the strange changes that had overtaken it, Heather had gladly accepted the offer of housing that had come with this... whatever this was.

She still needed to tell her parents and her boyfriend and so many people what had happened to her.

The sounds of activity drew her into the kitchen.

"Pizza?" she asked, and then lapsed more quietly for a moment, as realization stuck her. "Oh."

	"Once you've had a better physiological work up, Heather, let me know," Cindy says, coming in behind her. "If there's any thing you're going to need in terms of nutrients, or for, y'know, sensuous reasons, we're going to get it for you." "Huh?" Jess feels slightly bombarded by the sudden flurry of activity. She is adaptive if nothing else.

"I dunno. I was just hungry.... Pizza sounded good. Thought I would try my hand at putting one together. Trying to see what we got in terms of meat stuffs I can put on it. If we don't have meat that's easy to throw together I was gonna do a spinach and Alfredo pizza. Those are awesome if ya never had one before. The sauce settles nicely, ya know. But if you guys want something else just say so. No skin off my nose. I ain't fussy. Just need to eat. I ran and did some training before, I'm kinda bushed all the sudden so... Need food."

Jess also is a world class rambler.

Harry smiles and nods at each of the new arrivals. He notices Heather's reaction to the pizza and makes a note to go ask if she needs an ear to talk to later.

"Yeah I'm good with anything I just thought mushrooms since...you know they go well on every pizza. I'll cut them too don't worry! And Flo you know how to make sauce? Would you teach me one day? I'd really love to know."

He grabs some ingredients from the pantry and moves to put them on the kitchen counter. Once he's done he discretely appears beside Heather.

"Is everything okay? I don't mean to pry but if you ever need help or someone to talk to I'm around you know." He doesn't mean to be nosy but he's seen what happens when people bottle up stuff for too long. It's best if she at least knows he's willing to listen.

Florian notices Heather's reaction as well, but he's not sure he's qualified to touch a can of worms like that, so he twists his lips briefly before responding to Jess.

"Spinach and Alfredo is a blight on the history of pizza." His face is flat, but his tone belies amusement as he checks the fridge and pulls out some ground beef. "I'll make a meat sauce, and I'm sure there's pepperoni around too. We can make more than one and do half and halves to make them the way everyone likes."

He's a bit surprised by Harry's request, but takes it in stride.

"I can show you how I do it now, and write the recipe out for you later, if you'd like." It was a family recipe, but his family was dwindling and good food should be passed on.

	Saishu picks up on only bits of this from the other room - but notes everyone heading towards the kitchen. "Spinach is very good... and I like mushrooms... I remain somewhat unsure about these various 'meat stuffs' they have here. I prefer to know what animal my meat comes from... and what is alfredo... or pizza?" she questions earnestly. Harry's question nearly drops her back down inside herself further, but he's in this kind of mess, same as her. They all are. But the levels of changes they've gone through seem to vary significantly. Cindy, Florian, and Harry are practically normal, Jess is green, and her...

"I don't eat, Harry," she said, somewhat flatly. "No internal organs, no sense of smell, no sense of taste. All gone."

"We can hold off on the meat if you'd like," Jess offers. She doesn't mind going vegetarian if it suits what other people need. Right now she is working on rolling the pizza dough she found so they have a decent crust.

She also thinks they might need two pizzas so she has split the dough as best she can and is working it so it is vaguely flat.

"What?" Jess looks surprised by that fact. Then rolls her shoulders not quite sure if she should say sorry.

"Thanks Flo. I live on my own so any sauce I use is from the can. I really appreciate it."

Oh. Harry gives Heather a sympathetic frown. He's gotten off lightly, the markings he has can be covered up or passed off as tatoos but turning into crystal was a whole other deal.

"Okay, well if there's anything you enjoy that you need help with or another person for, I'm here. Or just someone to hang out with and talk to." He once knew a kid who only seemed to cheer up when playing air hockey. He couldn't do anything about the eating thing but he'd be damned if he didn't try to help in any way he could.

He clams up a little when Saisha walks in, she's intimidating and a warrior. He avoids all conflict. To be honest, she scares him a little. But he smiles and nods to both her and Lenny as he rolls in. Then he's off to go grab a knife, board and wash and cut those mushrooms. He hopes everyone likes mushrooms...

Florian automatically gathers the rest of the ingredients he needs, the seasonings, cans of tomato sauces, and two pots.

"I'll make two pots of the red sauce, one with meat and one without." He gestures with a spoon at Jess.

"Maybe we could split the dough down a little more and have everyone make their own smaller pizzas? They'll cook faster, and it'll be far easier to be sure no one ends up eating something they don't like."

He glances up at Saishu as he slices a tomato.

"The type of meat I'm using in one pot of the red sauce is called beef. It comes from cows." He's careful to keep his tone informative without a bit of judgement. He's not sure why she wants to know where her meat comes from, but then again besides knowing what might make them cower and cry, he didn't know much about anyone here.

Saishu seems pretty comfortable with making everyone nervous. She hasn't changed on the outside - she always dresses like this. She's got that warrior confidence the rest of these folks seem to lack - and compared to pretty much anyone here, isn't very worldly.

"Thank you." she responds, genuinely, to Cindy, then Florian. "Flatbread with tomato paste, cow, spinach and mushrooms? That sounds very good. I can help slice things if you would like assistance. I'm very good with a knife." she adds, helpfully. Sort of helpfully, anyway.

Jess quirks a grin.

"Well food is amazing.... I think we have a second bag with already made pizza dough if we really want to make that much pizza," Jess mentions out loud. "Honestly... I don't think it matters too much?"

She's really hungry. A lack of a clear cut plan is starting to annoy her as she's hungry and wants food. "I honestly think it's easier to make just two. It'll only take twenty minutes for each pizza if we do two. If we do six or five that's ten to fifteen minutes for every pizza."

Do they really want her to wait that long? She grumble faintly and moves to steal a few crackers looking like she might chew someone's leg off for a moment.

"Alright", Harry smiles a Heather and continues his mushroom chopping. He knows when not to press anymore.

"Umm I'm good with just making two big ones. She's right, it'll probably be faster and I'm sure people are hungry. We can do individual ones next time."

His response to Saisha is considerably more quiet and nervous. "I'm pretty much done the mushrooms but there's spinach over there and we've got onions and peppers too if anyone would like. You can cut those." Oh, better not let her think he's telling her what to do, he's really not. He mumbles the last bit. "I mean if...you'd...like. Or something..."

Florian has to turn his head to hide a smile at the way Harry backpedals. He shouldn't be amused that the other guy was so uncomfortable, but he really couldn't see the reason for it.

"That's fine. The sauce is almost mixed. It doesn't need to boil since you're in a hurry, it'll just heat while baking."

He'd make an extra smaller one for himself after they were through, and take the leftovers with him when he went home.

Saisha nods pleasantly enough, even if her grin when she gets hold of two kitchen knives, one in each hand, is just a little too vicious.

After very briefly setting the knives aside, she piles onions, peppers and spinach onto a cutting board in neat rows, grabbing as much of the vegetable matter as she can without being in the way of the others, and sets into them with a knife in each hand. The resulting sound of the cleaver chops with the left hand and knife-slices with the lighter blade are about at steady, even and consistent as a machinegun set to a drum machine beat.

What's either impressive or scary isn't so much that she dices the vegetables - an amazonian figure with a cleaver and a lighter, precision knife making quick work of a bunch of vegetables may not be too surprising. A little more surprising is that it actually is pretty clean and precise, chopping the bigger pieces into manageable sections with quick cleaver-hacks, and mincing with the knife, the end result pretty close to what a blender might have done.

The blender might be a little quicker - maybe.

"I hope that was quick enough to expedite the flatbread dish? I am very hungry."

	"Okay. Um...Henry? Do you want to do one and I'll cover the other." She has the crust rolled out onto two different round and vaguely pizza shaped pans. She's ready to spread sauce and everything.
