Maria was in the gym at Wayne Manor taking her frustrations out on the heavy bag. Fists pounded the bag, each strike harder than the last. Anger fueled her punches. Her hands were hurting, even though they were taped up, but she didn't seem to notice. She would pay for it later, but right now the bag would pay.

Good to be home after some time out of town. Nothing like Gotham. But seriously, welcome committee was lacking here. AltDad would be out on business he guessed but no reason for Maria not to be around. So Thomas goes searching.

Still wearing his jacket and bag slung over shoulder, Thomas finds her in the gym. "Did the bag insult your mother or something? What's up? Oh and hey, I'm back."

	"Shit. Really?" Though honestly he was surprised Bruce hadn't pulled something like this earlier, it'd be expected of him. Thomas steadies the bag and centers himself to be able to brace for any impacts when she continued her workout. Usually some resistance made it more worthwhile. He frowns right back and explains. "One of his or not, I'm the last person he should be grooming. I just dropped in, and none of this is mine, I don't have a right to any of it. Besides, he's raised you and Dick and Tim. If none of you are going to do it there's still no reason he should use me. I'm a case of him always being the responsible one.He doesn't owe me anything and letting me live here, have the night and day job is more than generous."

"Well obviously it's fun, but you never thought of what you'd do during the day?" Granted, Dick had that problem too.

"I figured. They were like that for me too," he shrugs. "Most people cave to his stubbornness, well, people who haven't lived with him. Only way to win on this is to be just as bullheaded back, he'll need to find another person then." Which, as much as he'd expected that be him in his world, this wasn't that place and he didn't expect or feel he deserved the position.

"Why not? Your mom must've enjoyed teaching, I know Dick bounced around but he rather enjoyed that short stint as a cop. Anything you'd have fun with?"
