Giovanna has Plans today. Among those plans was the fact that she'd been very careful about not letting Andrew see the packages she'd ordered, and was now holding as she knocked on the door of Andrew's room that morning.

Andrew remembers his birthday for one reason, and one reason only - that they share it, and he has alerts on his computer to remind him of her birthday, otherwise he'd kind of forget it til she showed up to get him, like most other important events.

As it is, he has some new clothes for her being delivered, and reservations out. He's always been given most of what he wanted for things, so when gift shopping he tends to think more in terms of events like nights out over stuff.

"Come on in." he calls, already up, and digging through briefing reports from the UN.

She comes in. "Happy Birthday," she says as she steps over to kiss his cheek.

"We've got most of the day free, and these," she smiles and hands him the two books wrapped in brown paper. "Are for you." She's quite positive he doesn't have either of them; the benefit of knowing where nearly all his stuff is. One's on linguistics, the other's filled with rather pretty photographs of things like petrified wood.

He grins at the books. "Thank you! I love them. And the dress being delivered between two and three and the Broadway tickets are for you. I made sure we also have all night clear."

She hugs him. "Thanks!" A smile. "And yeah, it's good to have tonight free; I don't mind that a quick errand or two couldn't be scheduled differently, but I think I'd just about scream if there were any Official Business tonight."

And then there would be Later Tonight, but she mustn't get ahead of herself.

Gio makes a small acknowledging sound. "Good point. Fortunately, we can trust each other, at least, with whatever we might end up having with dinner." The conversation she intended to have later that night should involve no impairments.

And the rest of their preparations for the day come smoothly. And the dress comes, and it's beautiful, and they go out, and Gio manages to keep extremely subtle in her constant examination of their surroundings for potential threats, so the issue isn't right in their faces. The smiling helps with that.

And dinner is excellent, and the play is fantastic, and she's cheerfully expressive about these things all the way back.

And when there's a lull in the conversation as they get back up to the rooms, she says. "You know, it's been just a little over six months since we decided this wasn't going to Ruin Everything."

And... not these things should ever be on any kind of timetable, but it felt like as good a time as any to start giving some further consideration to something we haven't done."

A certain internal weight lifted a little. Her hand touches his face as she answers in French. "Thank you. And I'd never want you to switch your principles for ones I understood more fully, my angel. I'll just keep trying to understand them as best as I can the way they are, and take them into consideration." She can't lie to him, but she can still do her best never to hurt him again.

And there will be more kissing now.

And the kissing continues for a while, because the other topic she wants to discuss tonight is not something one wants to get immediately into after touching on points even remotely related to What Happened A Few Months Ago.

But eventually, she breaks a kiss, and pulls back a little, taking a deep breath, trying to look somewhat serious even as she smiles up at him. "There was something else I wanted to talk about."

A slightly deep breath, as Gio is as close as she really gets to looking a bit sheepish. "Sex. I picked up a few of the usual precautions at the pharmacy yesterday. No rush. No necessity. I just want you to know that I think I'm ready when you are."

"Sounds good," she says before kissing him again.

Giovanna would never be much of a telepath. She perpetually directs as much of her psionic energy reserves as possible towards keeping up her Fort-Knox-level defenses. When those are down, she has a very minor capacity for telepathic communication....and a very major feeling of openness and vulnerability.

And that, somehow, feels right tonight. So as she kisses him, the walls come down one by one.
It's going to be a long night indeed.
