Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
The noise level in the Library has become quite the nuisance and I can't believe that this many people have gotten away with it without Madam Pince properly handling the situation. Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that she's been spending a lot more time with Mr. Filch, but still, that doesn't mean she should be allowed to shirk her duties. I'd like to remind everyone that the Library is a place to study - not to talk or make as much noise as you possibly can. Therefore, if I see anyone being overly obnoxious, I won't hesitate to give them a detention or deduct house points for being rude to your classmates.

Private to Ron
I know you aren't exactly pleased with me and ignoring me is hardly helping the situation. What I said yesterday wasn't entirely called for, but I really was just asking how you planned to handle the situation. You don't personally have a lot of experience dealing with girls, especially ones that are clearly infatuated with you, and the only time you've ever let a girl down was with Lavender. I was worried that you planned to use the same methods you used with her with this younger girl, whose name I don't even know about mind you, but with her being so young, I worried that it would affect her much more greatly than it did with Lavender. Of course, I'm not saying you're that insensitive, just that sometimes it's easy to act before thinking these things out.

So, I'm sorry how it turned out and for saying it in a way that wasn't taken well.

It's not what you asked, Hermione, it's how you asked it. Merlin, you made me feel like the biggest idiot on the planet! I'm not the jerk you sometimes think I am.

I've never thought you were a jerk, Ron.

I beg to differ, Hermione. I seem to recall you calling me an "insensitive jerk" several times in the past as well as telling me I "have the emotional range of a teaspoon". Did I get that right?

There are times when you periodically lack the necessary sensitivity that a situation calls for, but I wasn't insinuating that you were one of those this time around. I was merely asking a question as to how you planned to handle the situation - a question you have yet to answer.

No, Hermione, you automatically assumed I would make a mess of things and hurt the girl's feelings.

Perhaps it was the way you went on about her and the situation. You made it seem like you were more annoyed about it all than anything else and I know how you are when you're frustrated.

I may be annoyed by the fact that I'm constantly being followed by this girl but that doesn't mean I'd crush her! This is my point, Hermione. Have a little faith in me!

Yes, but -- All right. Then how are you going to slowly let her down, then?

I was going to calmly explain to her that although it's flattering, I'm in seventh year and she's in second and nothing could ever happen. I'll tell her that she needs to stop following me.

That's one way to let her down slowly. What will you do if that doesn't work?

Hermione

Well, then, I'm sure I could find some kind of memory spell so she forgets she ever liked me and it'll never hurt her because she won't remember it.

Ron

Using those kinds of spells isn't allowed, Ron, and then I'd really think you were insensitive for doing that. Not that I think you would, mind you, because I think you don't have any other options right now.

What I'm trying to say is that if that doesn't work, perhaps Ginny could talk to her?

You're far too serious, Hermione. I wasn't being serious. I don't even know those kinds of spells. If it doesn't work, fine, I'll have Ginny talk to her.

I can't exactly tell if you were being serious or not through your writing. Maybe you should add a footnote next time telling me that you weren't being completely serious and I wouldn't have taken what you said seriously.

I have come to the conclusion that there are not many safe places to conduct our studies still in existence. Every little empty corridor, greenhouse, common room, dormitory, and classroom are not being used in a proper manner. Should we be alarmed?

Perhaps, though it's still the beginning of the year and the general excitement accompanied with it seems to be in place though lasting a bit longer than normal. The teachers haven't made mention of it yet either.

Eventually; however, everyone in seventh year will need to start settling down and concentrating on studying for their N.E.W.T.s.

It's not necessary to apologise for sneezing, Neville. That's not the sort of disturbances I was referring to. However, I hope you feel better. If you don't, might consider going to the infirmary.
