One of the private lines rang at the consulate. Giovanna answered the phone.

"Genoshan Consulate. Giovanna Bennet speaking. How can I help you?"

Andrew settles in, waiting for tea before going into anything beyond basic pleasantries. Tea is important for these things. Eases the atmosphere, he's always thought.

"Thank you, but... Genosha, by and large, is as unsure of what we're doing here as the world is. My grandfather disagrees with a lot of my basic principles... but has given me leave to pursue dragging Genosha into the world community, kicking and screaming, if need be, anyway." he replies, finally, once they have tea brought out.

"Just relax. Angelo loves making and serving dinner... and it gives him something to do. What brings you here?"

	She glanced at gio, them back to her nephew. "It was just time. It's better for everyone this way, believe me. And I've barely left genosha my whole life... I just needed to ne somewhere else." "Of course. It'll be great to have you." She looks at Andrew. "But we need to figure out how to handle your grandfather on this."

Gio looks earnestly to Charlotte. "I know you probably have a lot of thoughts on the subject, but just because you're a late bloomer doesn't mean your father doesn't care what happens to you. He's going to be worried." And a worried Magneto was not good.

He nods. "Proof of concept time. Gio, next chance you get when calling home, please inform your father and my grandfather that she is here... she is safe, and she will remain here. Under my protection." Emphasis both ways. She will not be going back to Genosha without his say so, and she will be protected from outside threats - and Andrew will stand up to Magneto, or the world, to prove his ideals.

"I have never believed in Xavier's blanket of secrecy, and I will not start now. I've told the world that we're here, and while we extend the olive branch that Xavier possesses, but keeps hidden... we will protect our own. My Aunt is Genoshan, that's all that matters. She is under my roof and my protection, no matter what."

"I drew the line a long time ago. That's part of what we're doing here."

He considers, while sipping his tea.

"That's really what we're doing here, when it comes down to it. I disagree with my grandfather's isolationism. I believe that to advance, Genosha needs the world, and the world needs Genosha. We need things like immigration, diplomacy... international allies. And, with those things, I believe in time, by using our gifts, if we benefit the world long enough, some will come to accept us.

But neither do I agree with Xavier. He believes in integration... and then hides his students away. I believe we need to be open with who we are. A nation that happens to have a large mutant population, and we will not shy from that."

Important note: not a nation of mutants.

"We will protect our own from our enemies, human, mutant or other. You are a Genoshan... so I will protect you. Genetics do not matter. Your name makes you a target... but I won't have anyone dragging you to Genosha against your will... nor have you become the target of bigotry.

But its not because you're my Aunt, or your name. I would do the same for any Genoshan... and that's the essence of what I'm doing here. Its not you... its principle... I drew the line when I arrived."

	That was...a lot. She was really more of a "speak softly and carry a big stick" type...without the stick. "I dont know what I think...That's part of why I left. So I could figure it out. 	Gio smiles. "Don't worry. Being as smart and philosophically on-top-of-things as Andrew isn't any kind of requirement for living here. A lot of us have our confusions and things to sort out, too." "Yeah, I'm not a big believer in black & white. You have a home here with us as long as you want it though. Gio - can you ask Sengai to come join us... I think my Aunt could use a bodyguard for a while, and I think he'd be ideal."

He glances back to his Aunt with a sigh. "Which, knowing you, you won't want... but they insisted I have one. Your name and relations will make you a target. If we're going to keep you safe, I'd prefer we take it seriously."

"Sengai... I have an assignment, if you're willing. I'd like you to be my Aunt's bodyguard, much as Gio is for me. There may be problems, both with the usual foes, and some Genoshans... not everyone there is likely to be happy with the uncertainty about her genetics... she may not have inherited an active X-gene.

Which hardly matters, she is a Genoshan, and under my protection. I just wanted you to be aware of the potential range of concerns before you take on the task.

She's come for asylum, while she figures things out for herself. I've granted it. I want to make sure she gets a chance to see the city, meet people, have some fun... while she's figuring out what she wants to do going forward. Given our enemies... I'd prefer she have a capable set of eyes around while she does it.
