If it helps anyone feel better about the issue of realism, I can confirm that at least two bids rn are the combination of two characters working together. One is a combination of three.

plus aren't some characters borrowing money too? from their wealthier friends?

My character might not have one of the highest bids, but I'm impressed with how high he's gotten for how short a time and how little he's been around so far. (I'm working on that)

So, I didn't want my post to end up sounding so preachy. But it's about an issue and an organization so near and dear to myself, so I couldn't really help it.

keanu reeves donates all of his profits to charity. dj qualls donates anything he doesn't make acting to charity. honestly, i think these numbers are a little less unrealistic than you think sometimes. i'm not saying that some of it isn't a big ridiculous, but the truth is that legitmately some celebs give their entire paycheck to charity. the people who work for them get paid through an entirely different means usually.

this will be the most moronic question ever, but... i've never done faux celeb before. do people not make normal journal entries like you do in celeb/pb? are they all fake ontd posts, magazine interviews, and stuff?

i know it's all ultimately supposed to be for a good cause, but i'm sort of nervous for my character to actually win anyone in the auction. i feel like i'd be stepping on the toes of people who are really gunning to win someone in particular or something.

do not feel bad about that at all! remember, the charity is also important and if your char is into the charity they should bid!

Just to add a bit to the chatter: a lot of celebrities do ad campaigns, commercials, product endorsement, things like that. So it's very likely they could make a pretty penny from some of that as well. Not ALL of their money has to come from their acting/writing/directing/musical work.

i think the 100k+ bids are ridiculous not only because i'm sure some of the people who are placing them can't afford them, but also because i'm sure that most celebrities who donate gigantic amounts of money (like keanu etc) don't do it for a random bachelor auction, they do it for organizations they have a relationship with

(Reply to this)(Thread)

(Anonymous)

how do you know the person donating doesn't also have a relationship with that charity? and if they don't, then wholeheartedly support that cause?

i think for the girl auction, the bids should be limited to $100-$1000 increments. that way people who aren't that rich can have an actual chance rather than someone bidding $50,000 on the first bid. just an idea...

(Reply to this)(Thread)

(Anonymous)

they'll eventually get outbid anyway. honestly my guy probably won't bid on anyone in the girls' auction because based on these numbers, even if he pools money he won't be able to afford anybody.
