Michael and I decided that it would be splendid to travel in muggle fashion back to England for the holidays. After packing everything up into a taxi, Michael made sure to show off his new found waving capability to our doorman while babbling incoherently. Naturally, his favorite part of the trip was on the ferry. The kid has his sea legs, that's for sure!

And I'm happy to report that he's slowly making attempts at crawling. Soon the dogs at Mum's will be running in fear from their tiny, impish friend. My little lamb is growing up

Gabriel, I'm sure that you already have holiday plans of your own, but Mum would like to formally extend an invitation to come over for the holidays. She also promises to tuck away any firearms that may be present in the house to ensure that Father does not decide to repetat last year's...er, event. Do let me know what you decide.

Now, I don't think--you're acting as if you're not going to have a say in his life anymore! I severely doubt Rachel would dare try to dictate the morals and relationships you and Michael have developed and will create and---Rachel has a daughter of her own, she knows all too well what it is to have to share---

I would not force Michael into anything! After all the depression I have gone through missing my family, I would never allow my son any chance of that happening! I'm doing this because this is what I want to do and--Michael will choose what he wishes to do with his life when the time comes!

And what happens if I don't have any say anymore? Just because you severely doubt that she would do such things doesn't mean she won't! I agree that Michael needs to grow up with a stable home life but--for God's sake Gabriel. I just--I don't understand.

If you cave to the whims of your parents over something like this, how can I sit here and believe that you won't let it happen to my son?! And what happens when his grandparents get sour with him because he's not fulfilling "familial obligations" or what have you? I'm surprised your parents so easily overlook the fact that your son isn't pureblooded when that was the cause of so much grief in the first place. And you just willingly run back to that. I know--I know it's family but how can you just

Michael better damn well be able to do what he wishes with his life when the time comes. I may not be able to be around him as much as I'd like, but there's so many things that I want for him and wanted for us and-- I don't want any of that to be jeopardized for him.

A stable--! You left, Mary! You went to France, knowing that it would cut down your time with our son, and you went anyway! I know you may not understand, but this is not---this is not strange to me, an arranged--Rachel and I are good for each other, and I think we will be a stable home life for Michael, when--

Don't! You don't and have never understood my family and while I do disagree with some of their beliefs I am going to make sure that Michael never has to go through anything like that! With--with everything I have done! For you, for Michael, you think! You think I would put anything before my son? Blood status? Marriage? You really believe that there's a chance?

I have no intention of keeping you out of Michael's life, but you are going to have to learn to live with the decisions I make with mine.
