Support & Games
It has come to my attention that a community on Scribbld is causing a lot of issue and I've actually suspended the account (but it's now unsuspended). Basically because we have no ToS people are pretty much free to write about and post about anything they want. Obviously that is a real issue but I've always said from day one, if you have to think twice about the content you're posting then don't post it at all. This continues to hold true and if you're submitting objectionable content, just don't. You'll probably end up getting banned or suspended.

I am not really sure what provokes people to post such mean and hateful content and as mentioned in a support ticket, I will definitely be closing this community in question if I get more complaints from users.

I personally think the community should be allowed to stay open but ONLY members of the community can participate in their little game. I believe that is what I will propose and if that rule is broken (via a user reporting it) I will close the community. I believe that is how I will handle it.

What I don't understand is why can't people just keep to themselves. Choose your friends wisely...

I will be speaking with a few other people today to get their opinions on the issue and from there we will decide on whether or not to keep the community open.

-----------

In other news....Keith came over last night and we hung out. I hooked him up with Aperture 2 and Cloverfield. [info]makkintosshu also stopped over to drop off an Ethernet cable. we all hung out and chatted video games. As with every Tuesday night we'll be online playing Call of Duty 4 -- my gamertag is vtequine.

[info]emilie made us a really good dinner last night, Shepards Pie. I loved it. Then we just hung out pretty much for the rest of the night.

I've also been working with Morgan and talking about a new project he's working on. More details to be revealed later :) it'll be neat though.

I finally got an S2 style I like except when I leave the comment page to be the style it looks horrid, I hate how none of the S2 stuff seems to indent or nest the comments. It's lame, but at least I like the layout...

I believe that's all I have to say for right now

Well we're not going to shut it down, we're going to allow it to continue on. But you'll only be able to post flames about people who have willingly joined the community.

Freedom of speech, sorry this is a private website, we can limit anything we wish to here and we try our best not to do so at all. Unfortunately when you start drama and start upsetting and pissing off people there's a line you cross and we definitely have to step in and do something. You can just start harassing other users for the heck of it.

[info]bitchbook is much different in that it's much more anonymous.

As I said, we'll continue to let [info]flamecup run so long as they adhere to the rules we've set forth for them. I invite you to start your own journaling site for flaming other people, in-fact, if you get the server I'll even get it all up and running for you.

Thanks.

Yeah, it's a private website, but don't go running around like, "YOU CAN WRITE WHATEVER YOU WANT!" and then putting harsher restrictions on that than any other journal site. Well, okay, I'm going to put in a support ticket every time somebody does something that "upsets me" and "pisses me off." The people in flamecup are responding to others upsetting them and pissing them off. But I guess they're not allowed.

Bitchbook is more anonymous? People using their usernames is more anonymous than posting flames that came from a submissions post where people comment anonymously? Right.

Actually, I did find a flamecup on GJ, but what other sites allow such a thing?

Sorry for trying to make this work...because you people are absolutely ridiculous. I am not sure why you get such jollies of hating on people...but uh whatever...

LJ had a flamecup for the longest time, but the owners actually bought a domain name for it because it got so big.

IJ has a flamecup. I believe CJ does too

And don't say "you people," like I'm the one in there doing the flames. I'm not. I've never submitted a flame, but I think that you're being hypocritical when you fully support bitchbook but want to condemn flamecup. People bitchbook people who don't belong to bitchbook, are you going to do something about that, too?

I also think that removing flamecup will cause more drama and problems. At least the drama is confined to one community with its existence.

You people?

btw, I run [info]honorcup with another user, [info]alicecullen. And I can tell you, I do not get my "jollies" from flaming people. I've never even flamed someone.

But shutting down or restricting flamecup is ridiculous. I don't think you should single out this one community. If you're going to do that, then you should do the same to all the negative and hateful communites.

Is that a threat? Should I send a ticket for that?

Jimmy, i'm sorry. If you're going to maintain and run a site like this, show some professionalism.

You're being catty, singling out users and posting empty threats. People who run reputable websites would NEVER carry themselves in such a manner.

I suggest either you grow up or hire a staff to deal with disputes and site issues.

ps- This wasn't ment to be a personal attack... I like you as a person, but this is more business practice and it doesn't sit right with me at all. :\

I was going to say that too, that there's always been an [info]honorcup to go with [info]flamecup and do positive things instead.

I'm sorry, but how do you figure that bitchbook is more anonymous? You have to post with a username. I bet the people getting bent out of shape over flamecup and sending you tickets are some of the same people who start drama in bitchbook every single day.

If you look at bitchbook and then look at flamecup, you will see that the people who get flamed the most are the ones who are up in bitchbook starting shit to begin with.
