The Detective and the Bird (part 1)

She was enjoying a bar she had never been to before. She didn't want to fuss too much after a tough case. But the stolen items were being sent back across the country to where they belonged.

She had not liked that Hawk that stuck his beak in her fight. Her shoulder was paying the price of him joining in on that dance. It left her feeling grouchy that is up until that point some stranger tried grabbing her ass.

She swung her fist like a sledge hammer. Some guy who was bigger than her tried to move in.

"I got this," she snaps right before she tosses the pervert. Suddenly a fight breaks out.

Oh come on! She laughs as the larger man joins in.

"I can see that," he says curtly. But he is giving her a different kind of look. Up until they have to start fighting back. Jane would never admit her stomach just fluttered. Man this guy could throw a punch!

She gives him her number after the fight is over. His name is Rex.

And he is the best bar fighter she has met in a long time. She feels happier than before.

Every time they tried going out? They ended up fighting.

Not each other. Bad guys. She used to have good luck before she met him.

She also forgave him for being that Hawk and not telling her long ago.

But when the bad guys are crumpled on the ground all around them and he looks at her like he sees their future she panics. She knows everything about him. He knows nothing about her.

They fight again. He is used to pig-headed people. He wears her down and when she calls herself a freak because she doesn't know jack, he tells her that's enough. He won't let her hurt herself with words and they break a couch with the very fierce way they get over her bad mood.

	They do get married. Right before their son Connor is born. Connor looks like his father but with a tuft of blond hair. Jane is tired and pleased. Rex seems happy with this too. (Reply to this)(Parent)

She knows Eli had been with her sister while they were traveling, so Eli gets questioned about everything. Each question leaves her more and more curious.

Others get questioned too. And she realizes that Eli is perfect. Perfect in a way she had not quite expected of anyone. She is grateful he was such a good friend for her sister and her sister's bride.

So she thanks him. Then is surprised when he thanks her in turn. He was happy to see Aridis cared for Vernique too.

"Aye. Of course I care. She ist a lovely woman and I hath seen the good changes for my dear sister she brings. She ist a good spouse. Dist thou worry for thine friend, Eli," she asks with a teasing smile. When he says nothing Aridis giggles and goes to steal a kiss. Just to thank and tease him for being so... sweet. But he is a little bold and kisses her back in such a way her toes curl.

And she finds they are smirking at each other.

They spar frequently. They go out. They court each other. Neither can decide if the other is in control. Nor do they care. She is happy and so is he.

They do not face any more hardships than her siblings do. Which leaves them time to fight evil side by side. And Eli sees that Aridis enjoys match-making.

He does not mind. It pleases her. They are not out to force change upon one and other. What does change is her feelings for him.

It takes a year but she announces one day she loves him. They are curled up on her bed watching a musical. He looks down at her surprised but smiles.

He feels the same.

She explains her need to be on the battle field. That she cannot simply be a house wife as some would expect.

So they take on a childhood friend of hers as their third. It turns into a bright and burning love.

The first child Eli has with Aridis is a boy who is called Hirjoidin. He takes after his father and enjoys playing with hounds.

Their wife has a daughter Isadis. Lovely like a star, Aridis commented with a smile tugging across her face. They are happy.
