1) Ash was shy. A bit like a skittish colt and Jay wasn't like that at all. He was ab;le to coax her out of her shell one day.
2) They had very different points of view. She was very calm though when she wasn't hiding. He could appericate that.
3) When the chips were down they knew they could trust each other.
4) When she got impaled through the stomach and was left suspended in the air bleeding and injured with no hope in sight Jay saw her in trouble. Together he and Ruth came in like avenging angels.
5) He stayed with her in medical when she was out. She admitted to being afraid to wake up alone so he stayed until Mera and Arthur came. When they had to go he came back and when she woke up groggy and frightened she wasn't alone.
