Very AU: Exiles Road
She fell in the sand with a WHUMPH, and followed the smell of coffee and muffins to a man who couldn't be haggled with. He told her horrifying stories about her father turning into a bigoted monster, and said the only way to stop it was to work with his people.

Cindy wasn't happy about any of this, anything was better than letting that happen to Daddy, to the world, if by some chance this guy was for real. So. Okay. Here she was, standing on some bizarre street, surrounded by bizarre people.

And.... wow.

"So that seriously is the real Mjolnir? Wow. And.. gee, when you were 14. Good job."

"Ok, so at least our worlds have something in common. Yeah, this is the real Mjolnir. You have a Thor running around heroing too, or just legends?"

She shakes her head a little. "The old gods made some kind of interpantheon treaty about not personally running around earth a long time ago. He's apparently pals with one of our A-Listers, though, and thinks all the other top heroes are basically her 'squires.'"

"Wow, that's, uhm... something. We didn't have very many of the gods, but they made a big difference. At least til Battleworld. Never did find out of Hercules went home, or what. He wasn't around though. I'll have you do a detailed report on your world soon though... in case we start running into places you'd recognize better than us."

"If we're about to hit a bunch of universes you'd recognize, that makes sense. He's also mentioned things about some people being so central to their universe, they're salvageable when the timeline changes, and most aren't. So - extra sign you're important."

"Thanks." Aaaand -- food comes. Cindy sets the containers available and opens them up.

When food arrives, Sarah sits up, pulling the sheet up over her chest with her good arm, not having worried much til now - but good plan with food arrived.

Then she settles in, letting Cindy dish things up.

"You definitely don't need to worry about my appetite. I savor every opportunity for real food after living as a scavenger more than once. You could do nothing but keep us fed and in real beds - and I'd consider you to be utterly amazing."

"Let's see... we didn't really have many books. A few things they borrowed from the suburb of Colorado that got pulled in, and some alien things we learned to translate. Kurt used to tell us some German fairy tales from memory though... Colossus the same. I'm not sure I'd recognize them if I read more standard translations... hmm...

I haven't seen the Olympics. Ever. I heard about them. Uhm... they play baseball in the Olympics, right? My dad loved baseball. I'd love to see a game.

And... acoustic. Definitely acoustic. The others are tricky... that one, I'm sure of.... and you?"

"The traditional fairy tales must have been awesome. Did Kurt ever tell you the Princess and the Swans? The original? I loved that. None of the waiting around being pretty; she worked her rear off to lift that freaking curse. And I really like the track stuff at the Olympics, but baseball's nice, too. I always went to the softball games at school. Maybe we'll manage to catch one sometime. And acoustic, yeah. Me too."

"He did, he loved that one. Granted, every time he told them, they changed a little, but still. Piotr was more consistent in his tellings. As for the Olympics... yeah, I don't really know. I know the concept, but really never saw it on Battleworld, and everything since has been the guerilla war, or this. What's your favorite music?"
