Fighting Selene was always personal. The things she'd done to Nova Roma, the mindgames, the manipulation of religion... and you just don't mess with a man's country in the first place.

Or a woman's country; Corey fully admitted Cait had fought just as fiercely and just as personally. And they'd won the day. But he felt really groggy, and...worse. Much worse. He didn't feel the earth beneath his feet. Well, it was there, but it wasn't pulsating with life the way it should have been. It wasn't right. It was just... something to stand on.

He didn't see Cait anywhere.. and he didn't remember there being a mirror over on there. Still... he could barely worry about that, so panicked was he about apparently losing his abilities? And why did the moisture in the air feel so heavy just because he'd gone mutation-deaf?
