There were several ways, really, that gens Aquila get-togethers were better than Drake family reunions. The view as one relaxed was one. Cornelius Drake sat on an isolated beach in an ornate chair he'd sculpted from the sand, eating a chocolate bar -- 100% shade grown, benefiting tamarin habitats, thank you -- and reading a book, over which he occasionally looked out onto the water.

"Having fun?" he eventually called out.

"Always," Cait called back as she stood out on top of the water a little distance from the shore. "It never hurts to practice," she reminded her brother as water rose around her and formed eight tentacle like arms.

"Mmhm. You are the most well-practiced octopus of my acquaintance," he assures her.

"You could use more practice, Dirt Boy," Cait said as she moved the arms around and had them strike at invisible targets.

"Hey!" He sets down the book, and the sand rises up and wraps itself around his arm almost like a sand gauntlet. A gauntlet with little filigreelike lines sculpted in. "I get practice! Check out the fine motor control on this!"

"Yes, but can you actually, you know, defend yourself if needed?" she asked as an arm whipped out and the tip just touched the gauntlet.

Cornelius Drake would like to claim that he made some sort of very many noise at the sudden slight thwacking, but in fact, he meeped. He did make a sort of parrying motion, and the sand, in its own way, almost splashed in Cait's direction.

A wall of ice rose and prevented the sand from hitting Cait. It dissolved as quickly has it had formed. One of the arms shot out and started to wrap itself around Corey's leg.

Corey flailed! He'd raise up some of the coral not far from under her, but that'd be too habitat disrruptive. So he hurls a rock from the edge of water in her general direction before his balance was totally lost.

Argh! Flying rock BAD! Cait dropped all the water, including the water holding her up and she fell into the water. The rock landed RIGHT behind her in the water with a splash.

That little twerp!

She concentrated and a wave of water rose from the surface and went heading toward him.

Off-balance, Corey didn't stand a chance. He looked kind of pathetic sitting there, his chair ruined, with a soggie candy wrapper.

"I'm wet," He whined, once he'd sputteringly caught his breath again. "And I think there are krill in my sinuses."

"Well duh," she said and rose up to stand on the surface again. She started walking toward the shore and while she did, she pulled the water off of him and herself. "Water is wet."

Corey rolled his eyes, then muttered "Thanks," as the drying-off occurred. "Obviously, the rules of that engagement were 'winner fixes the loser some chili-cocoa back in town.' My reasoning's totally impeccable here."

Cait snorted. "You wish, but I will buy another chocolate bar to replace the one I ruined." Despite the fact that Cait liked to torment her younger brother, she wasn't mean or cruel. The teasing and tormenting that they did to each other aside, they did get along rather well. "I can't wait until we go back to New York."

Corey smiled. "Thanks. So: eager to leave, got plans, or just want all the amenities again?"

Cait smiled. "Two out of three." She wasn't going to say which two.

"Then let's go get the sugary goodness that provides homes for small yellow monkeys, and then go ask Mom when we're heading out."

"Now that sounds like a plan. Wow, you are good for something," she teased and nudged him with an elbow.
