The First Step on the Path of Destiny
Svalin Thorsdottir stood outside the massive entrance to Lord Odin's (otherwise known as Grandfather) hall. She had been grooming Tryggvi when she had received the summons to appear before Lord Odin within an hour. It was unusual to be summoned like this, or at all for that matter.

What could Lord Odin possibly want? Perhaps it was some sort of quest or maybe it was to help defend the Golden Realm. No matter what it could be, Svalin answered the summons and now stood at the base of the stairs leading up to the entrance to the hall.

She'd never admit it of course, but she was a little nervous.

Svalin rose and listened to what her grandfather had to say. Migard? Why Migard? Each of them still had training to see to here in Asgard.

She tilted her head in thought. "Lord Odin," she said very respectfully. "What ist the purpose of this trip to Migard? Doth not Asgard have need of us to help defend the place of our birth from those who wouldst see it destroyed?"

Aridis would be sad to go so far from the places she knows so well but she will prepare herself quickly once they are dismissed. Deep down the idea of going to Midgard scares her since she is well aware of how much power she has compared to the people there.

Would she become a terrible thing of their nightmares? She hopes not. It would be better to be called a hero.

"Thy training must continue on Midgard. There art matters of prophesy and tradition to see to - and child, we of Asgard hath guarded this realm before thou were't a thought. We will manage without thee, but herald your victorious returns when such a day has come."

This? This is awesome. Frost giants and trolls are entertaining and all, but everyone has killed a giant or three. But foes like the Absorbing Man, Goliath, Count Nefaria... now that's the stuff big stories are made of that few others can match.
Halbjorn has never benn one for hiding his emotions, so his joy with this pronouncement shows immediately.
"I need but select arms for the trip, and I am ready, Grandfather."

This is going to be fun.

Asleif's eyes widen in disbelief. She simply cannot have heard what she thinks she has just heard. Tis some jest! Grandfather cannot possibly think to consign us to that mudball of a world! Yes, yes, tis some grand jest...

"Midgard?" she manages, after a moment. "All... four of us?"

"Aye." The especially you doesn't need to be added. His sharp eye skewers the point into her.

"Just think, sister, what adventures we shalt find! The tales of father's exploits there art the stuff of legend, and now we mayst find such adventure ourselves. Surely this shalt lead to grand tales indeed."
Exactly why Halbjorn always seems to think his sister will suddenly come to her senses and appreciate these things remains a mystery, even to Asgard's greatest diviners.
Nonetheless, hope springs eternal.

Svalin bowed deeply. "Thy will shall be done, Lord Odin. We will not bring shame upon thy name or the Realm Eternal." Svalin was always one for formalities. She never called him Grandfather in public and always made sure proper etiquette was followed.

"Aye, thy will be done," Aridis echoes. At least she didn't have to pick sides here since there was no real side. It was just doing as the All Father wishes and the new possible adventures they could find.

That was something to look forward to.

"Will our father's friends on Midgard be expecting our arrival, my lord?" She didn't want their first meeting to end in astonishment. While they were truly fantastic she did not wish to be seen as intimidating.

Asleif bowed her head, momentarily kowtowed by Odin's unspoken admonishment.

"As thee wish, Sire," she said. "So shall it be."
