It was good work, for now. Until her sweet master returned, well, now that she'd learned where the points were that the band should never do without, she dug in like a very stylish terrier with the venues and wouldn't let go of those points. She expanded their areas of performance, got some wider distribution for their CDs, played hostess for crew parties, and yet somehow DJ's apartment was usually spotless when she met him at the door, desperate for his touch.

Minnie had never been much of a slacker.

She chuckles. "Some people are so surprised... I had this friend, once... she was in a bad situation with a guy who was hurting her -- and let me be clear, the fucker was a monster, he was horrible to her, and deserved everything he got when some other crook took him out eventually -- but when it came to distracting him for her... she was so ashamed to admit it, so scared to get me involvde. I had to assure that as far as I was concerned, it was all just rotten sex." Minnie explains it in quiet reminiscence.... and then goes wide-eyed as she realizes she just admitted a fairly private story to DJ, whom she definitely dind't normally discuss Past STuff with.

He nods solemnly. "There is nothing wrong with masochism, and there's a big difference between being rough with a willing submissive, and just beating the hell out of someone. I don't mind hurting you... I know you like it, and its kind of nice not having to hold back any. But I wouldn't hurt you, or anyone else, just to do it. I'm glad your friend got out of the situation, in some fashion... and really hope she managed to not get into a new one."

"Goddess, of course I know you wouldn't! I never had anything to do with morons like that unless I needed to help somebody with something. And yeah. She got away, and the last time I saw her she was with this nice, wholesome rich guy into the same stuff she's into and really being her own person, which was a big deal for her. It was great." But anyway, my friend's not a scared kid anymore, the last guy I saw her with cleared the background checks," Yes, there had been background checks. Minnie had ways. "and she lived happily ever after. Like people should." She kissed DJ's cheek again.

Personally, I'm fond of a lot of things that originated because someone didn't want to have to stop gambling to eat... at least according to legend, but that probably speaks of the amount of time I spend eating while working on something.
