Jenny/Charlie

Charlie had been busy eating whatever was left at the buffet, and as Jenny bumped into him the last tiny sandwich fell to the floor. "Noooo, my sandwich!" he called out helplessly and looked at it one last time before kicking it under the food table.

Looking up, Charlie recognised Jenny from her sister and somewhere in the back of his mind he registered mild panic. But so what if he was a little high? She wasn't his boss anymore. "I came" he echoed, grinning.

"You look.. nice," Jenny replied, giving him a glance over. If nothing else, Charlie did clean up pretty well. Not that she often told him so; it would do no good to let compliments go to his head. It wasn't her job to pump up his ego anymore.

Glancing at the table, which had fairly slim picking, Jenny blinked a bit. The only thing that hadn't been picked over was the vegetable tray. Leaning over to take a carrot, she turned back to Charlie. "Is there any ketchup here at all?"

Charlie smiled, pretty delighted. It wasn't often he ever got into a suit, so he was happy the occasion was marked. "You look good. So purple." He flipped his mask up to take a better look, giving her a once over and nodding.

Charlie laughed when she asked for ketchup, it was something they shared an affinity for when they were dating. Everything was edible with ketchup. "How dare you uh, insinuate that there would be ketchup at such a fine party such as this" he teased, talking slowly and messing with his hair.

"What kind of fine party doesn't have ketchup? Every party should have ketchup," Jenny muttered sullenly, taking a bite of the plain carrot and almost immediately scrunching her face up in response. "Gross," she decided, shaking her head.

She watched him mess with his hair, and she couldn't help but feel her pout twitching into a slight smile. Every time she was around him lately, he reminded her that some things never changed. Even with all of the drama going on in her life, Charlie was still Charlie.

Charlie watched her face eagerly as she bit into the carrot, if it wasn't too bad he might be able to eat some himself, but it fell as her face scrunched up. "No good? Just spit it out, I wont tell anyone" he joked, holding a paper plate up to her chin briefly before fumbling and dropping it. That got kicked under the table too.

Jenny had been about to spit, and she had to quickly clap a hand to her mouth when he dropped the plate, and she found herself laughing loudly as he kicked in under the table. Forcing herself to swallow the disgusting vegetable, she made another scrunchy face, before regarding Charlie with a crooked grin.

"You're an asshole," she informed him, not without good natured affection.

"I am a handsome asshole" he corrected her with what he hoped was a classy wink, but the rate his facial expressions were moving, could have just looked like a mild stroke.

"So how many boys have asked you to dance tonight?"

Jenny/Charlie

Jenny snorted a little in an attempt to hold in her laughter at seeing his face. He was a character, if nothing else. "You think you're funny," she informed him, more of a statement than a question. With all of their unexpected laughter and good cheer, she was closer to him than originally intended, standing almost against his side as they stood there.

"None really, just a couple earlier. One of the boys from choir and another one from the quodpot team. They're really pumped up about the win."

Charlie chuckled to himself quietly, "I am pretty funny" he admitted, bumping her shoulder with his arm.

"Pumped up about being in their little homoerotic jerk circle" he corrected Jenny with a hint of a pout. A pack a day smoking habit had cost him a place in any team at Cresent City, and it still bugged him enough that he would rag on the other players.

"Be nice, Charles!" Jenny hissed, although she didn't seem completely unamused. "Are you trying to say all sports are homoerotic, or just quodpot? And does that make cheerleading homoerotic by proxy?" she joked.
