Charlie/Jenny
|
Jenny was, if nothing else, glad for the distraction of the dance. Things had been way too tense since Halloween, and the more she thought about the things she was hearing, the less she wanted to hear. With Christmas time fast approaching, getting through the Snowflake Ball just meant they were another night closer to getting home for the holidays. She couldn't wait to be at home, sleeping in her own bunk bed, and away from whatever was going down on campus. Especially with the way Ella had been reacting to it all. Seeing her sister in any kind of distress was distressing for Jenny herself, and if home made that better, she'd volunteer to stay there until it was all better. No matter how long it took. Home would be better, happier, even if they wouldn't be able to talk to their parents about what was going on; in addition to being completely too muggle to comprehend most of it, Paula and Ron would almost definitely panic if they heard half of the rumors floating around Crescent City recently. Tonight though, she didn't want to think about that, she just wanted to enjoy herself. She had thrown something together to wear, and she was off to the dance. She had already spent a majority of her evening moving from crowd to crowd, meeting people and chatting here and there, dancing a few different times. It was coming back from a dance with a friend from choir, that Jenny noticed Charlie. Predictable, she thought idly. Everything from the slumping leaning on the wall, to the look on his face, was predictable. And as usual, it made her smile. Approaching him from his left, the blonde weaved in between a small crowd of sophomores, before coming close enough to land a playful whack on his shoulders. "What's up, crankyface?"

"You think he'll be mad if you muss up his crease? Cause if I drag you away from this wall, it's bound to happen," the blonde teased him, smiling. When he stooped down, she held her phone away at arm's length, angling down at the pair of them.
"I know I am," she said simply, still smiling. "Say cheese," she added, leaning over and pressing a dramatic kiss to his cheek as she took the picture.

Jenny smiled, nodding her head. "I'll send it to you later," she assured him. Not adding, of course, that she might print a copy for herself. It was a pretty cute picture, even with that look on his face.
When he mentioned break, she seemed a bit more apprehensive, though she did offer a little smile. "I am. Or, I guess, I'm trying. El's been really weird lately, she seems kinda on edge, I'm hoping going home will be good for her.. I mean, I want to go too, but I'm gunna miss being here. I want to more for Ella than me. I think a good old predictable Christmas will do her good. I hate it when she's upset, and it's like.. a twin thing," she explained, smiling a bit sadly.
"You can't not know when they have stuff going on. Like, when she's not right, I'm not right, so I just want things to be cool again."

"Ha-ha," Jenny replied dryly, rolling her eyes at him. She knew that he didn't mean it though; he was a good guy, as much of a jerk as he tended to act like at times.
"And it's not any sort of woman problem, so don't worry about it. She's just not acting like herself, and before you even say it, I'm sure it isn't related to PMS or anything else you want to blame it on. I know my sister," she assured him, a little more defensively than she perhaps meant to sound.
She was, after all, more mad at herself than anybody else. If she couldn't find out what was wrong and help Ella, then who could?

"How do you expect me to ask my sister if that's what she has wrong with her? Like, just walk up and be like.. hey, I noticed you're kind of bummed lately, have you had unprotected sex as of late?" Jenny retorted, scoffing a little. "She's smarter than that. She's not going to be like our mum, believe me.. I know she won't. Someone must have done something else to her," she muttered, quickly adding, "Something non-sexual. I'm done talking about that, ew."
