Characters: Ella and Jenny Setting: Their bedroom back home Content: SFW Summary: Ella and Jenny have a heart to heart about the dance It was no question that the twins were going home early for Christmas. What had happened at the dance had shaken both of them, but Jenny didn't even remember what she had said. Ella insisted of going home with Jenny, even if she hated to admit she was a little afraid of her sister right now, but she wasn't going to leave her alone any time soon. It had been hard to talk to Jenny alone so far, their mom had been hovering around ever since they arrived but finally she had run to the store and the twins were alone for the first time since before the dance. Ella wasn't sure she had spoken more than five words to Jenny since the fit. Everytime she tried to her voice would get thick and tears would threaten to spill over, but she needed to tell her about Halloween, and most important what Jenny had said at the end of her fit. Bounding upstairs accompanied by ice cream, Ella popped her head around the door to their bedroom, clearing her throat. "Mom said you're not allowed ice cream yet but.." She walked in and handed Jenny a spoon, sitting on the edge of the bed and twiddling her thumbs. Tags: !incomplete, ella parry, jennifer parry

Jenny had been reclining comfortably onto the bed, with a book open in her lap. Reading was about the only activity that their mom had cleared her to perform. That, and lots of sleeping. She hadn't left her room for more than an hour at a time since getting home, other than taking a couple of meals in the kitchen. But even then, most food had been brought to her bed. She had been allowed to use her laptop briefly the night before to email some friends and say she was okay, but even that caused a heated argument that ended up with both Jenny and her mother in tears. Generally speaking, Jenny never fought with either of her parents. She didn't talk back, she didn't cause trouble. She never had any reason to, they had always been kind and reasonable, but something about this latest incident had Paula into overdrive protective mode. And it was starting to drive Jenny crazy. She felt fine now, almost as if there had never been a fit at all. She didn't want to be confined to bed, and kept on strict rest, to have to eat different from everyone else. If classes were still in, Jenny would have been more than ready to go back to them, though she doubted her mom would allow that. With how she was acting, Jenny wasn't sure she'd even be allowed to go back in January. Whatever the teachers had told her mom and dad, it must have been bad. When Ella popped into the room, Jenny had almost been dozing off, but she quickly jerked awake, blinking over at her sister. "Where is she? She's going to find out. It's been an hour since she was last in here, almost time for her to 'check in' on me again. She's going to catch us," the blonde muttered moodily, taking a cautious look toward the bedroom door as Ella sat on the edge of her bed. She accepted the spoon no less, scooting over to make room for Ella to sit closer to her, as she usually did, and waiting for her to open the ice cream for them. "What brings you to prison?" she asked, only half jokingly, fixing her sister with a weak smile.

"Especially if it's Christmas groceries," Jenny agreed, swallowing a painful lump in her throat at the thought of it. Every year when they came home from school, their mother always let them go with her for the Christmas groceries the following Monday. She never went alone. They got to pick out a gingerbread house, and sugar cookie supplies, choose the turkey, pick out some stocking stuffers, and all sorts of other seasonal goodies. This year, Jenny was pretty sure she'd be lucky if their mom even let her have a cookie, let alone get out of bed to bake them. "That always takes her hours," she added softly, digging into the ice cream once Ella opened it, deciding to drown her sorrows in that instead.
"Overdrive is the understatement of the century. I'm not used to being treated like an invalid anymore.. she can't treat me like I'm glass forever," the blonde sighed, slumping down in the bed, letting her head fall onto Ella's shoulder. If she had noticed any hesitation in her sister, she wasn't showing it.

Jenny closed her book, reaching over to slide it off of the bed, and onto the floor. "It's not like I was ever fixed, El. We knew it could happen again.. and yeah, it sucked but, everyone just needs to chill out. Are you guys going to act like this every time I seize for the rest of our lives?" Jenny shot back, pouting a bit. She didn't mean to act cranky, but it was getting harder not to with each passing hour.
Being away at school had spoiled her. She was too used to her freedom. "And obviously, whatever I said must have been pretty embarrassing, since you're all being so hush-hush. If it was that bad, I'm sure people at school will talk about it, so you might as well just tell me now," she added. "Or I'll just ask someone else. I'll bet Meka or Sera will tell me."

Jenny was pretty much at a loss for words upon hearing the word possessed. It wasn't something to be tossed around lightly, and although she thought it sounded ludicrous, she didn't think that Ella would lie to her. Just the look on her sister's face showed that it wasn't a lie. Whether it was true or not, Jenny knew that Ella believed what she was telling her.
That was enough for Jenny.
"Possessed by what?" she managed, knowing her own eyes were welling up with tears now. She turned her face again, pressing it into Ella's shoulder, and willing herself not to cry. Was this why everyone was acting so strange? Why her mother was going so mental? Why Ella had been avoiding her? Better question, why had no one told her sooner?
"What's wrong with me?" Jenny murmured, putting herself over the edge with that, one muffled sob escaping against Ella's shoulder.

Jenny nodded a bit, lifting her head up slightly. "Yeah, I saw some of that, but I.. it's just Janis. I figured she was just being over-dramatic, I mean.. think of the source. It's not like I take everything she ever says at face value," the blonde murmured, sniffling a bit. "Are you saying that she.. might actually know what's going on? Or some of it?"
Jenny didn't particularly enjoy the prospect of having to probe Janis, of all people, for valuable information. If only there was someone more reliable she could relate to. "I don't know this is all just.. so much. I did that in front of everyone, didn't I? Everybody heard me?"
She didn't even want to consider the looks when they got back to school. She suddenly felt like staying on break forever now, when she had been pining to escape just a few minutes ago.

There was a brief flair of jealousy in Jenny as she realized that Ella had kept it from her until now, that she had gone to Apple instead, but she quickly pushed that aside. Her own feelings were irrelevant if what Ella was saying was true, and Jenny believed that it was. Just like what she told her about the fit, Jenny had no reason to doubt the truth behind it. Ella had never lied to her before, and she doubted that she had chosen today to start.
"Okay," Jenny began slowly, biting her lip a little, looking concentrated; as if trying to carefully choose her words. "You haven't found anything, then? It doesn't sound like anything I've ever heard of. And your book definitely has more information than mine, so if you can't find it in there, then.. I don't know what we're dealing with. What the school is dealing with, I should say."
Jenny was silent for another moment, before continuing. "Is Apple sure that he didn't see a Thestral?" she asked. She wasn't sure if Apple had ever seen someone die, she had never asked, but if he had.. well, at least it could explain some of this away. Spotting a Thestral was less scary than something unidentified.
Mostly, she was glad just to discuss this, and not the topic of her own experience. Jenny's mind was still reeling from that, seeming to repeat Ella's suspicions; possession.

Jenny bit her lip again, nodding some as she listened. If that was ruled out, then it just made things all the more complicated. "Magical creatures are.. different from regular animals, granted, but I still don't think that crossing a species like that is easy, you know? Like, I don't think we have a chance in hell that any of this is naturally occurring," the blonde muttered.
"Which means, like.. obviously, somebody is doing this. If it's a hybrid, how did it happen without someone behind it?"
Which also meant it could, theoretically, be anyone. It could be a teacher, a staff member, a student, or even someone else entirely. It made Jenny shiver. "I don't know, El.. this is like, bad.. really bad."
