"Had a dog forever," Hunter replied without looking back at him, seeming more focused on scruffing up the dog's head, scratching her ears and all the like. When he asked about the sex, she did glance back at him momentarily, making a face right back.

"Uh, why not? She'll just go sleep on the floor. It's just a dog."

"No way, I can't do it. It's too weird." This coming from the guy who could have sex with other people in the room.

Hunter's expression was purely deadpan. "What d'you mean you can't do it?! You're bein' retarded! It's just a dog!"

She had almost said stupid dog; she might even had, if it were any dog by Bella. They went pretty far back, after all, and building an affinity with an animal like that was almost unavoidable. At least in Hunter's opinion.

"You're weird," she added with some finality, scowling at him.
