"Sweet dude, your lady huh? I like the pink" he complimented and then looked down at his pipe again lovingly. "Yeah, it's nice huh? Check it out.." Charlie held it up between them, close to Apple's face. "Wood finish. That white bit is probably fucking, ivory or some shit. You have never looked classier toking than toking out of this."
He put the pipe in Apple's hand and nodded. "Go ahead, try it."
Apple's eyes widened as he looked at the pipe. "Ooo, that is a nice finish. Fuckin sophisticated piece right there bro." He took the pipe with reverence and examined it closely. "Really?" he asked looking up, his eyes big.
"Yeah man, totally!" Charlie stuffed a little pot into it and lit it proudly. He watched Apple's face as he toked with a sense of pride. "Smooth, huh?"
Apple took a long drag on the pipe and released the smoke from his lungs slowly. "That's nice," he said handing the pipe back over. "Where the fuck did you get it? It's amazing!"
Charlie gave a big, goofy grin at Apple's approval and took a toke himself, shrugging his shoulders at the younger kid's question. "I dunno man, my brother brought it back from the army for Christmas." He laughed and raised his eyebrows. "That was a merry Christmas, if you catch me drift!"
He grinned happily. "That shit's legendary," he giggled a little. "Yeah dude," he laughed. "A merry Christmas indeed. My brother is a bit more stingy with his green and his pieces."
"Brothers" Charlie said, shaking his head and clutching the pipe between his teeth, freeing his hands. "Speaking of green.." He pulled a handful of baggys, labelled for maximum efficiency, opened one with the letter 'A' on and gave it to Apple to sniff.
"I slipped a little more in there for you, since it's Christmas and everything."
"Yeah brothers can be total hornswagglers sometimes," Apple took a whiff and grinned. "Oooo! Nice," he said closing up the bag.
"Charlie, I don't know if I can say it enough, you're a good man," he clapped the older boys shoulder and slipped him a wad of cash. "The holiday spirit suits you well," he grinned.
Charlie didn't bother to count the cash, just thrusting it deep in his pocket with a satisfied grunt. "Yeah yeah, don't try and butter me up" he brushed the compliment off with a laugh.
Toking the pipe, he raised his eyebrows at the younger boy and stroked his chin thoughtfully. "So tell me about your new babe. What's her name?"
"You know me Charles, I gotta compliment when it's fitting."
Apple couldn't fight the subtle blush that rose in his cheeks or the grin that spread across his face. "Her name is Janis," he said. "Little bouncy, blonde Beauregard."
Charlie thought for a second, pretty sure he knew who she was. "Cute" he agreed, ruffling Apple's hair like he would with a little brother. "I wish you all the happiness, or something."
"All the ladies" Charlie giggled, puffing on the pipe and finding it hard to take anything seriously. I mean, he was giggling. "Yeah, no. None. Nothin' for poor old Charlie, bro."
Apple giggled along with his friend. "Awww, there's a lady out there for you bro," he said giving him a little nudge. "A real pretty one who can keep up with you," he giggled.
"Keep up with me? My mom says if I was any slower I'd be walking backwards." He shook his head and tried to concentrate. "But it's like in that film, uh... Sixteen Candels? Something like that, dude. 'Life moves pretty fast, if you don't go slow you're dead'. Like that, you know?"
Apple laughed easily. "Man... I've never seen that film," he giggled. He would have brought up the point that he thought Sixteen Candles was a chick flick but he didn't want to offend. "Makes sense though," he grinned. "Gotta take your time and shit." He had no idea what he was talking about, but it sounded good.
