Michiko couldn't miss the first party of the year, especially since it was Charlie's birthday. He threw the best parties. She flattened her dress and lit a cigarette. It had been one of the first cigarettes she had had in months, she insisted that was the hardest thing about being pregnant even when it came to the growing belly and the heart burn.
She plopped down on a log and sighed, opening a package of skittles.
"Ooh, now there's a pretty MILF." Adelaide dropped onto the log beside Michi and snatched the cigarette out of her hand. "These'll kill you, you know?" She took a drag of it with a cheeky grin, and passed it back once her friend had gotten the skittles under control. "How's things?"
Michiko laughed. "Well hey there beautiful," she held the open package of skittles toward Adelaide after taking a few herself and taking her cigarette. "Life choices Addy, and we all know how smart I am when it comes to those," she smirked.
"Things are good, how about you?" she said settling back a little and glad to be in the company of a friend.
Addy dug around for a purple one. "All good." She leaned her head on Michi's shoulder and watched people dancing around drunkenly, having a good time (and some not-so-good a time, starting to look a little green around the gills).
She raised an eyebrow, though her head didn't move. No matter what she actually said on the matter of boys, Michi knew how she really felt. "Well, Asshat isn't here, so I guess I should, huh?"
Michiko hated that Adelaide was still pining over Leon, she was always trying to gently push her to get over him. "It would be better if you found another man while Asshat was here," she said taking a long drag. "Show him that you deserve better."
Addy gigglesnorted despite herself. "You mean, show him that somebody else is maybe-definitely-but-probably-not getting the goodies?" She'd been so offended when he'd demanded physical evidence of her affection for him that she had turned him into a toad. Now though... if he asked now, she'd probably jump on him without even waiting to get behind closed doors. It was completely pathetic.
"Definitely," Michiko grinned. "The goodies are a hot commodity," she giggled. "The kid is a little shit and you can bag a way hotter boy who won't demand the goodies for his own validation as a man," she rolled her eyes.
