Casey/Shelby

Casey laughed a little bit, certain that Shelby didn't mind in the least that he had declined. He stayed put as his friend took a seat on the rock beside him and shrugged before he answered the question.

"I don't know. I guess I just decided to actually give this social thing a shot. Ella hounds me about not being a hermit so much." It was true enough. Of course, there were more people than just Ella that thought he should get out more. His parents included.

"That's cool dude, she's right though ya know man you should get out more, get your ass to some more parties. They're usually pretty awesome and chill for the most part." Smirked the freckled boy. "Except for the occasional fight or pile of puke when shit gets really crazy." He laughed once again. Shelby had always been good with balance so he figured it couldn't hurt to offer some words of encouragement. Sure he could spend days on end in front of a game or computer screen, but on the other hand he never missed a good party.

From what Shelby seen so far the night was pretty relaxed, especially compared to some of Charlie's other parties but the night was still young and he knew anything could still happen. Finishing the last of his joint, he threw the roach on the ground, stepping it out with his sneaker. It wasn't really worth saving.

It was hard to not roll his eyes at Shelby agreeing with Ella. But, obviously, he had heard it enough times to actually get up and come to this one. It was getting through somehow although it did take a while. "Well, we'll see how this party goes. If it doesn't turn out to be a disaster for me, I might actually think of showing up at Homecoming. That'll be one party and one school function that I've attended."

If it was the case and he ended up going, it was already a much different school year. Hell, it might even turn into a trend. There certainly wasn't anything bad about the party so far.

"Sorry dude." Shelby shrugged when he noticed Casey's eye roll, "Just trying to help. Don't get too social though man, I still need someone to get my game on with." He laughed, nudging Casey's side a little.

"You should go to homecoming though man, even if school dances kind of suck, I mean compared to parties anyway."

"Still fun times though." He assured Casey, grinning and nodding his head.

Casey laughed at the thought of it ever being a danger. "Oh god no, no, no, no," he shook his head even as he laughed while speaking, "There's no way I'm ever going to end up becoming social enough for that to be a danger. I love my games too much."

When the laughing calmed, he continued. "That's why this is the tester. Smaller crowd. If I can handle this, I may be able to handle Homecoming. I'm not scared of crowds but... they still unnerve me."

"Good to hear." Shelby added, still laughing a little himself.

He was more like Casey's opposite, he loved being around people and apart from gaming had a hard time spending too much time alone. He liked interacting with people and making them smile, but he could still understand where Casey was coming from. "I think you'll be alright." He told his friend. "You should ask a girl to go with you?" Shelby suggested, "Maybe pimp it up and bring two?" he added jokingly.

He nodded a bit, giving a light shrug. "Yea, I suppose I'll be alright. But a date... well.. that'll be step three. Maybe the winter formal or something." Casey's face went a little pink at the thought of even asking one girl, let alone two. When it came to the female gender, he was at a complete loss. He'd just end up babbling endlessly if he so much as tried to ask.

Casey/Shelby

Shelby nodded back at Casey with a little smirk, "Alright man take your time." He responded looking up at Casey with a confident grin. It wasn't like he was a huge ladies man, he'd be lucky to find himself a date for homecoming as much as he liked to act otherwise. He figured he'd probably pestered Casey enough on the subject for one evening.

"So ya play anything good lately?" Shelby asked, switching to something he knew would be a little less awkward for Casey. "I've been pretty hooked on Starcraft 2 lately," he added with a laugh.

On the change of topic, Casey did visibly relax. Talking about games was one of the things that could get the kid to talk freely and without stress. "I've been playing a little bit of the new Call of Duty, at least until other stuff comes out. I've been hesitant on Starcraft 2; I might wait until they come out with all of the races before I put money on it."

Casey/Shelby

"You can play 3 races when you play online? I dunno if there's more than that." Shelby answered back before pausing to think for just a brief moment.

"How's the new Call of Duty though? I heard it was pretty sweet?" Shelby laughed, he always hated that his mother wouldn't let him bring his bigger systems to school. He always felt a little behind on the game front.
