Jools was self conscious enough to worry that she'd ruined it. She tried not to let her disappointment show in her face.

"Sorry. That was very forward. I shouldn't have."

She clenched her hands in her lap even harder and debated getting up and running away before this little embarrassing tidbit became major school gossip (though with the massive lesbian breakup scene, Jools picked a great night to embarrass herself).

He stared some more, before finally snapping out of it, to smile at her and say, "Yes you should," and then look at his hands all bunched up nervously.

"This would have been forward." He reached over and covered her hands with his own, and leaned forward to place a quick kiss on her lips before either of them could freak out and run away.

Jools began to quietly panic. Cheek kisses were fine, she figured; they did it in France all the time. But lip kisses, even chaste lip kisses like the one she had just experienced... Boys tended to like to know who they were kissing when they kissed someone on the lips.

For the most part, Bobby knew Jools, about as well as she let anyone know her. But he didn't know about Julien. She felt a mixture of fear and shame and horror at the very idea.

She smiled at him in that panicked way and kept her hands clenched tightly beneath his. She pulled her lips away before he could kiss her again or get closer.

"Uh. I think I need another drink," she said hurriedly and stood up, moving quickly to the refreshment table.

Blew it. He sat back and sighed. That would teach him for trying to move out of the comfortable awkwardness that was his usual state of being. He rubbed the back of his head and looked around for Sam and Colby. It might be easier to talk and not be awkward in a group.
