Jenny had come to this party with every intention to talk to Quinn and then leave the premises as fast as her legs could carry her. Why did she feel this weird obligation anyway? It wasn't as if she and Quinn had ever been dating but with everything going on with Sera now.. she felt it was right to come and see Quinn. This wasn't the usual reason she visited the Van Rensselaer house, and it was weird to see it so full of people. When she had been here, it had been just the two of them.

She had almost found Quinn when she first arrived, handing out beads by the door, but she had been intercepted by Michiko effortlessly. Perhaps if she hadn't stood just out of sight rehearsing what she wanted out of tonight. Closure? Friendship? Those sounded good.

After that though, Jenny had slunk away on her own, nursing a bottle of Jones thoughtfully. She tried to find somewhere to sit, but not wanting to intrude on the people on the furniture, she wandered her way outside as well.

She almost didn't notice Meka, caught up in similar thoughts about the relaxing storm sounds, but when she smelled the smoke and glanced to see her, she was glad. Nothing like another nerd to hang out with. "Hey," she murmured, moving swiftly to sit down beside her friend. "Someone else who can read more than a picture book, thank god," she joked, nudging her.

Meka was relieved to hear her friend's voice. She smiled lazily giving a little laugh. "Yeah, it's quite the feat to find a brain in a place like this," she grinned.

"How are you doing on this fine Fat Tuesday?" she asked giving her friend a nudge back. She had wanted to ask about Sera but contained herself for now. "Had to tell off any scumbag guys yet?"

"Nobody for me yet," Jenny lamented, setting her drink down beside them and leaning back onto her palms. "I guess I'm just not as cute as you if that's how you spent your night," she added, smirking. "One guy did offer to give me beads but uh, no thanks. They weren't even purple. Who the hell wants orange beads?"

"I'm good though. I just came to see one person for a bit, but she's pretty busy so I dunno when I'll get a chance. How 'bout you?"

"Nah," Meka laughed quietly. "You're way cuter," she grinned. "I had to tell off a few," she shrugged. "I think they were just drunk though."

"He didn't even offer you purple beads? Who the hell does that? You're Jenny friggin Parry of course you want purple beads," she smirked.

"I'm doing okay though," she said. "It's been a weird couple months," she admitted. "Who are you looking for?" she asked curiously.

"That's what I'm saying right? I get all dolled up to come here, and they can't even offer me a good color.. it's terrible," the blonde replied dramatically, grinning as she pressed the back of her hand to her forehead in mock woe. "Seriously though, if I could have stapled this shirt to my shorts, I would. There is no way I'm flashing anyone tonight," she murmured.

Or so was the plan. She hadn't run into Quinn yet and Quinn did have that way about her-- no, she wasn't going to even think that. It was all about closure.

When Meka, seeming to read her mind, asked who she was here to see, Jenny shrugged a little and hoped her expression wasn't betraying too much. "I just have to talk to Quinn for a minute, that's actually.. why I came here at all."

Meka couldn't help but laugh. "Right?" she shook her head. "I would have joined you in the stapling campaign. I think it's a legitimate style choice for those of us who are less inclined to flashing everyone," she grinned.

"I don't even know why I bother to come to these things anymore," she admitted a bit ruefully. It wasn't as if she was going to see him there, he barely ever attended social functions. So sighed, reminding herself not to get sidetracked in her own head.

"Quinn? I didn't know you two hung out," she said taking a long drag on her cigarette. "It was nice of her to host the party."

Jenny blanched a little, letting out an awkward little laugh. It was true, they weren't the most predictable set of friends. But there was something about Quinn that drew her in. "We hang out," she said finally, shifting a bit where she sat. "Sort of."

She wanted to tell Meka what was up, but she wasn't sure what Sera had even told her yet. Meka knows was all she had been told, as vague as it was.

Meka noticed her friends color change and the awkward little laugh. Oh. OH. She wasn't entirely sure but she was kind of picking up that vibe. She grinned a silly little grin. "Kinda how you and Sera hang out?" she gave her a playful nudge.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to get too personal," her own face taking on a rosy hue. "You don't have to answer," she said quickly.

Jenny could have been mortified, but really, what was the big deal? She burst into a bit of laughter, cupping a hand over her mouth slightly and shaking her head. "Yeah," she replied, somewhat confidently, "A little bit like Sera and I hang out. Pretty much the same way but uhm, different. She's not into.. hanging out. Like, long-term. We didn't," she explained, trailing off. Outside of what she had told Sera about Quinn, she had never really talked about it. It felt nice not to keep secrets.

"It's not too personal, I guess you.. probably know most of whats going on then? With me and her? Sera, I mean."

She glanced back toward the house, and grabbing up her Jones, sipping at it. "I asked her to come tonight but she wanted to stay at school and do a project, what a shock. I'm gunna go over after I leave. If I don't get caught up," she murmured, before quickly adding. "Not like that. Caught up, like that. With Quinn. Isn't what I mean. Obviously."

Meka laughed along with her friend. "Sorry for the abruptness of my question," she said a little embarrassed by her own etiquette.

"I know that you and Sera got together at New Years," she smiled warmly at her friend. "I'm really happy for you guys," she said sweetly. "She's so cute about it," Meka laughed.

She couldn't help but laugh at Jenny's stumble. It was something she did all the time. "I know," she said throwing her arm around Jenny's shoulders and laughing. "I know what you mean," she said. "I kinda word fumble all the time," she grinned.

Jenny smiled, leaning into Meka's arm. "I know, Ella is like.. the could talk your face off for hours conversation sister, and I'm like, borderline tourettes sometimes. But I'm glad you know where I'm going with this," she admitted, laughing.

"I didn't specifically tell Sera who's party it was. Do you think she'll care? I mean, I did ask her to come.. and I'm actually here to kinda.. I dunno, find some kind of closure? It's like, hey, I'm actually with someone now. I know it sounds over-dramatic, but sometimes I didn't think that would happen again after Charlie."

She smiled, it was so easy to talk to some people but there were some people where it was like talking to a stop sign. "I was picking up what you were putting down," she laughed a little. "It's easy to talk to you," she admitted.

"I don't think she'll care. I think it's important to find closure with stuff like that," Meka nodded. She knew she would eventually have to do the same herself but that could wait for now. "I always figured you would find someone who was fantastic for you," she smiled warmly. "You're too awesome not to eventually find someone."

"She's pretty fantastic, isn't she?" Jenny agreed, cheeks flushing a little and a small grin crossing her lips. Her finger was tracing idly over the top of her Jones bottle, which was now held between her knees. "I was kind of a dick to her, though. I guess you probably know about the summer and stuff," she admitted, glancing away as she spoke.

"If I had just been honest from the start, things would probably be a lot easier now. She didn't even know I actually.. you know, liked girls. Until basically New Years. That was pretty shitty of me," she murmured.

"Sorry to vent on you on the fly, by the way. Just.. thinking a lot tonight."

"She is," she nodded. "She told me a little bit about the summer, that you kind of freaked out," Meka shrugged. "Hey, it's kind of a freaky thing when it's all new, you know?"

"It feels like such a stupid thing to be freaked out about now," Jenny admitted, smiling slowly. "Even if I'm not exactly out, I.. well, I wanna be someday. I'm kind of coming to terms with it. I'm trying to keep my resolution to stop caring what everyone thinks," she murmured. "I originally meant about the snowflake ball, but now it's kind of an all encompassing resolution."

She paused, glancing seriously at Meka. "I did hear though, from a reliable source, that you might be gracing the cheerleading team in Sonnier sometime down the road.. ?"

"I don't think it's stupid at all," she said sweetly. "We are in the pinnacle of awkward years and still figuring things out," she grinned. "Take your time with it and when you're comfortable you let the world know."

Meka blanched a little and grinned widely. "I really want to," she said a bit shyly. "I think I will wait 'til next season maybe, I don't know," she grinned. "I just... I used to dance and I started again recently, I didn't even realize how much I had missed it," she said staring out into the dark.

"Have you ever thought of doing an advice column?" Jenny joked, grinning over at her friend. "It just feels good to know that some people know, and they're the important people, and they.. don't care. So why should I? I think Ella was kind of mad that I thought she'd care. I should have known better," she muttered, biting at her lip.

The continuing mention of cheerleading did brighten her up a little. "I say give it a try. I mean, you've got Sera to back you up. And think of how mad she'll be if you're better than her! So if you go in there and own it, she will work three times are hard to own it too. You guys could really turn the team around. You danced, so you'll have natural talent and she'll have.. determination to be the best at life. Right?" the blonde suggested, giggling a little. "Someday she'll get over that, I'm sure."

She couldn't but smile at that. "No, I never thought about that," she said shaking her head. "I've been writing the arts section forever," she laughed. She had never thought of herself as an excellent advice giver, then again, she never took her own advice. "Exactly," she said brightly. "It must feel awesome to have it out instead of holding it all in to yourself," she said leaning back a little.

"That's true, I was kind of relieved when Sera told me she wanted to cheer. I didn't think I was ever going to tell anyone my secret want to cheerlead," she admitted, her cheeks still feeling a little warm. "I think she's going to get really good at it," Meka laughed. "She's going to be team captain in no time. I don't think she'll stop wanting to be the best until she's President of the US," she beamed.

"You're probably right," Jenny agreed, smiling fondly at the thought. "I can't believe she hasn't had me fitted for first lady pantsuits yet," the blonde joked, laughing some as she reached for her Jones again. "If anyone could do it though, it's her. Sera has determination that I can't even comprehend.. I mean, I like to study, but that girl likes to study. It's an actual joy."

Jenny stretched her legs out in front of herself, clicking the heels of her sneakers together lightly. "I wish I could be out like her. I wanna join the pride union, but then it's like.. I might just wait until next year."

Meka laughed. "Pantsuits? You ladies are going to look so pimp," she joked. "We've both been working on being more social though," she admitted. "You could lock us in a room with books and we would be pleased as punch," she laughed.

"It will come along some day you know? You'll feel comfortable enough to be out and in the Pride Union. We could always go to a meeting or something if you want. I'll go with you."

"She might like me, but Sera's first love will always be the lady's suit," Jenny replied, grinning broadly. "I know the feeling though. I've been studying even more than usual since Sera and I hooked up.. I mean, granted, we don't always study the whole time. But we both love it so it's like we get lost for hours doing essays. It's kind of amazing."

She pulled her knees closer, exhaling heavily and glancing away as she knew her cheeks were probably flushing. "I'd like that, actually. I wonder what they do there?"

"If you think they won't mind us going and checking it out for a meeting or two, then I'm down. I think it might be fun."

"Me too," she grinned. "Dorks of the world unite!" she said, digging through her pocket for another cigarette. She placed a cigarette between her lips and lit it with a match, giving a gentle laugh. "She doesn't get science jokes? Whaaaaaaaat?" she laughed again. "Though you really are crazy different."

"I don't think they would mind," she nodded. "It could be a lot of fun I think and like... insightful," she said nodding.
