When Andrew had gotten a text message from Joshua asking to pick him up at the bus station, he didn't ask any questions, he just got into his car and drove to pick up his boyfriend. Joshua shook his head. "No, I don't. I'm scared what they'll be." Kids were supposed to grow up like their parents and that was unacceptable in this case. He was afraid the damage had been done. When he was little, he'd had his father to help him with the brunt of his mother's anger. Not that he ever really stood up to the woman, but he knew he'd had it easier for the first years of his life. He was terrified he hadn't done enough to protect them and when they grew up, all of his mistakes and failures would become more and more apparent and that they would be miserable.
