Running on Empty
Tim Drake has been hard at work for the last two days, rarely eating or sleeping since J'anna's death. Frank Wells was dead, so he couldn't have arranged this kind of sick surprise. Tim combed his memories for the extensive list of people who could know his identity and put something like this together. The resources necessary for this kind of psychological warfare were above and beyond those of most of his enemies, but there were a few who could still pull it off. But then it took a special kind of psycho to /want/ to do something like this at all.

All of Tim's thoughts kept going back to the League of Assassins and Damien Wilson.

Not for the first time, Tim wondered how much Lian had given Damien on all of them. He pushed that thought down. This wasn't her fault. She'd been honest about everything and she'd cut Damien out of her life. After all the pain he'd brought her, there was no way she'd go back to him.

But Damien had threatened to kill Bruce, Marissa and Terry; Bruce was dead, because of him. Cerdian was dead because of him. Giselle died because Tim couldn't trust her enough to be honest and now J'anna was dead because Tim hadn't thought to prepare for something like this. The guilt was eating him alive, but he couldn't give into that. He had to find a way to help Giselle rest in peace.

The abandoned sewer tunnels beneath Star City made a great place for a back-up HQ, which Tim had prepared for shortly after his arrival in town a year ago. He'd intended to move his operations here permanently, but never got around to it. Now, he had to choice.

The motion alarms picked up movement a mile away from his HQ, causing Tim to look up from the device he was putting together. He'd have ignored it and gone back to work, except now...whoever was out there was moving closer to the base. They weren't stopping for directions either.

He had incoming company. He raced for his uniform and mask, ready to greet his new guest.

He just hoped it wasn't Giselle.

"Sliver! Get out of here, now!" Red Robin yells, skidding wildly as he turns the bike around. This was the /last/ thing he needed tonight.

The only thing worse would be Zoe being not far behind.

"Hop on! We need to get away from here before they find us!"

Logically, Red Robin wouldn't be having a personal panic attack if it was something that he could handle. And with the reports on the radio, and Zoe's departure, that left -- "The zombies finally get down here? Do you think they're a risk to the civilians?" he asks, reluctant to leave said civilians if so, but climbing on because he assumes Red Robin has a plan again.

"At the moment, no. The ones that are here came for me. I'm going to drop you somewhere safe and then lead them away." Red Robin says, working on said plan in his mind. The goal of the plan is to render these women incapable of hurting or killing anyone else. There is a sub-heading for keeping Sliver out of the line of fire.

Secondary goals include surviving with all of his body parts still attached and putting these women back where they belong. There is a sub-heading for having a place to live deep within this plan, but it's so tertiary as to not even be a true goal.

"Okay," he holds on, then asks after a moment. "What happens after you lead them away?"

"That's the trick, the turn and the prestige all at once. We'll know how well it went once I get to the bridge." Red Robin says.

"We just want to help you, Tim," Steph called as she flew after Tim. "You don't have to run away this time."

He turned his head to look at the woman pursuing him. And look.

GK had looked too long at people waiting for death before, at the hospices his Mother would volunteer at. A few would have "The End" written across them.
What he was seeing right now, on the ... thing chasing after them, wasn't that at all. Even the usual golden letters were robbed of their luster as he watched the word "Oblivion" appear.

"...I think I'm going to be sick"

Giselle went after Tim as well.

"Still stubborn, Alvin. Please let us help you."

"Sliver, now would be a bad time to redecorate my cape. Close your eyes and breathe, but hold on. We're headed to the last safe place in town I can think of." Red Robin says.

He kicks up the throttle, rocketing toward Outsiders' HQ and hoping to whatever gods are out there that this is an isolated incident.

And he does the closing-his-eyes-and-breathing thing for a moment, but then he's opening. As once they leave the triangle they seem to be heading towards a rather ravaged area.

"Um.."

Something was wrong with Outsiders' HQ. Tim couldn't /what/ it was right away, but something was definitely off.

Red Robin heads into the garage and parks the bike, killing the engine as he does so.

"Something is wrong, Sliver. Keep your eye out and stay close. You see any thing amiss, get out of here and get somewhere safe." Red Robin says.

He nods, dismounting from the bike after Red Robin and looking around anxiously.
