They appeared out of nowhere in space above Oa. The element of surprise was with them and for a brief moment there were no black lanterns to be seen.

Rex aims and fires over and over again, shooting down any Black Lantern that comes close enough to harrass his teammates. This is very different from Rex's preferred method of battle, but he knows that he's got to be smart here, rather than just angry.

"How long do you think we can keep this up, Kol? We've got to get to the Guardians and mount some offense." he says.
