Happy birthday, Nic!
Mickey was not going to forget Nic's birthday. She was her best friend, and had been for a very long time. So her birthday was on the most important days of the year to her.

She actually made the cake herself. Mickey wasn't a horrible cook, she just only did it on rare occasions. Friends birthdays were one of those. The cake was chocolate with strawberry frosting.

There was bacon. Lots and lots of bacon. Mickey had taken the liberty of making a couple of little things out of bacon, including a narwhal made entirely of bacon, chasing a tiny bacon boat.

There was a promise of a day of shopping and any hellraising that Nic wanted to do. That was mostly Mickey's idea, as she wanted a day where she could just have her best friend all to herself.

She had told the rest of the JSA that she was throwing a party the Brownstone (attendance was mandatory for them) and invited over Cindy.

Nic didn't talk about her own dealings with the dead. The idea of her zombified father-figure (sort of) coming after her with murderous intent didn't settle well. Truth was that nothing had settled well since the event, but she wasn't talking about that.

"We're good. What about you? I hear things about this girlfriend you seem to have acquired." A really devious grin crossed her face, the sort she often got right before breaking his brain.

"S-so y-you've heard."

Will scratches at the back of his head, moving his gaze away from the eye contact. It was weird talking about it, but it was especially weird talking about it with Nic. He had been interested in her, not too long ago. But now his romantic thoughts were elsewhere.

"Y-yeah. I-it kinda c-came out of l-left field. N-not that I-I'm complaining a-about it."

	It was probably fortunate that Nic had not inherited her father's variety of jealousy or the conversation would have been really weird for her, too. "You're stuttering. Heeee." She was a little giddy. "I'm glad for you. I thought you were actually going to try to ask me out there for awhile, but I'm glad you've got someone. Who disrupts your speech." Well, it turns out your intuition was right.

"A-about that...I-I kinda d-did, for a wh-while there. B-before you were d-dating Cindy."

Will takes a deep breath.

"B-but that's not t-true a-anymore. Y-you have an awesome g-girlfriend, and now I have one, too. so i-its something we have in common."

And with those words, it feels like something comes off of Wills chest. Like a weight being released.
