Learning to fly all over again
He's been pondering this for a while. Quite a while, really... but first Svalin... and then, just Jon being Jon has had him hesitant, and second guessing himself. He's still not intending anything serious anywhere... but socializing has been good. He can't deny it. Goosing Maria, much as he's sure he's going to be embarrassed later, also has him in a little less serious mood than usual.

Still, cute as she is, she also moves a little fast for him, especially after recent events.

He calls Alina's number, after looking it up in team records.

Jon gets to the burger place early. He's a regular, and well enough known - but he hasn't dated much, and he wants to make sure they get a decent table. The place isn't fast food by any stretch - its in a reasonably nice part of town, has a decent view of one of the city parks with award winning flowerbeds, and serves a selection of burgers with a rather extensive list of possible toppings, plus a few other things - but most people come for the burgers.

Its just cozy enough that he's easy to find from the door - and the staff knows he's expecting company.

The teleporter drops Alina off in an out-of-sight spot, and the burger place isn't too hard to find from there. She's not dressed to the nines, but she's at least dressed to the sixes in a red v-neck and dark jeans that makes her legs look fantastic.

Of course, this is a guy who regularly sees her in fishnets and booty-shorts; if he hasn't already noticed her legs, there's really no helping him.

She runs her fingers through her hair one more time to tousle it, straightens her shoulders, and heads for the restaurant. Fortunately, Jon's easy to find too.

"Hey stranger."

	Oh, he's noticed her legs... which surprised him a little. He usually doesn't pay that much attention with most girls he knows... which may be just the point. "That was kind of what I meant by our usual conversation topics, considering that I was around for most of that," Alina teases. Well, clearly he's not worried about anyone listening in on their conversation, that's a relief.

She shrugs. "Yeah, pretty busy. People in my neck of the woods are coming to terms with the fact that the local Beetle is retired from the public side of the business. I also wound up fighting rabbits in Abraham Lincoln costumes and I wasn't even dreaming at the time."

Since getting back from the space tour, work has pretty much been life." he admits, keeping track of people around with super hearing, but comfortable enough here, otherwise, to talk work. 	"With your powers, I shouldn't be too surprised. As for space... well, it was one of those... voyage of self-discovery things, I guess. A lot of time just out in the middle of nowhere, but also visiting some of the hotspots out there, over a year and a half. Nice to be home though. Lots to get used to." "Yeah, I get parts one and two of the so-called 'ancient Chinese curse' without even trying." Alina says, resting her chin on her hand. "Part three hasn't hit me yet, but there's still time."

Space-tour. For a year and a half. Man, her family got edgy if she was away for much more than a week. "That sounds really cool. What did you tell the kids at school when they'd asked where you'd been?"

"That I was away on a cultural exchange program. It just made things easier being as close to accurate as possible. I did check in with allies and all, just wanted to see the remains of Krypton for myself. It was... interesting. Not sure if I found what I was looking for or not, but it was a good experience. So, how's the magical studies proceeding, anyway? I know it will always be a little interesting in results... but just the study is probably pretty cool in its own right."

"Even if you didn't find what you were looking for, the experience definitely sounds worth it."

Alina laughs again, shaking her hair out of her face. "They're proceeding. Probably at the same pace they always were, but it's seemed slower since the thing with the Greek Titans. I got to taste what real control felt like, and then I had to go back to being nature's random effect generator. Totally annoying."

Accommodating sort of guy, Jon. Alina ignores the suspicious little voice in the back of her head -- he's being nice because he's a nice guy, not because he's got an ulterior motive. It's entirely possible that Jon's never had an ulterior motive in his life.

"I am in the mood for onions, if that's not going to be a deal-breaker," she says.
