Prelude for JLI
Max scowled at the reports. Phantoms, Vampires, Robots, Monsters. A veritable Saturday Morning Cartoon full of trochee-termed cliched freaks. And not a helpful hero in sight. So many of them didn't even take his calls these days. Almost made one want to go back into the business.

...It really did almost make one want to go back into the business. So many of the younger set seemed to get along with Cindy. Maybe they'd be more willing to be civil in order to deal with deal with problems like this.

"Sweetie? I need your Rolodex."
"Dad, I don't have a Rolodex. I have an iPhone."
"Same thing, sweetie."

And the messages start going out.

Cyborg scanned Mercury before proceeding to say anything. Noting the sudden blur of motion, he replayed it and slowed the video down to assess the "cruising" speed, which he assumed was Mercury's most common speed of movement.

"You are not a threat, speedster," Cyborg commented. He made no attempt to strike at Mercury, or even move.

Mercury's fist begins to vibrate rapidly as he swings at Cyborg, trying to drive his fist through the robotic man. Mercury aware that the energies of the Speed Force can disrupt electronics in some circumstances, so if he can shut down this guy coordinating with his band of not-so-merry men, it might give the rest of the team a better chance at stopping the others.

Cyborg took the hit, not expecting it to do much other than damage him (which he was fully prepared to recover from). He was surprised by the sudden sensation that ran through him. If he was any plain robot, he might have been significantly hindered by the punch. But he was a cyborg of nanotechnology.

His recovery was superior, as shown by the nanobots that worked within him rapidly repairing the damage, both physically and electronically.

"Interesting development," he noted while firing a laser blast from his midsection. "Logged."

Mercury has enough time to process what's happening before the laser blasts slams him into a wall several feet away.

He's dealing with a cyborg of some kind and it can heal as well as dish out pain. Moreover, it seems to be leading this group of jokers.

With that information in mind, Jai West does the only thing he can do.

He runs away as fast as he can.

Cyborg doesn't follow Mercury. The kid was an interesting phenomenon, but not enough of a significant threat at the moment to require extermination.

He then proceeded toward the target building, not expecting anymore interruptions to himself.

Yes, Mercury does run away from Cyborg as fast as he can, but not because he's afraid.

He's just out to pick up some speed. A /lot/ of speed.

He heads East out of Shanghai, crossing the ocean.

Coast City.

Keystone City.

Metropolis.

New York.

London.

Paris.

Shanghai.

This time, Mercury returns and attempts, mid-run, to tear Cyborg's arm clean off his torso. Rather than stop, however, he dashes away again, making a circuit around the city come back and try to tear off any wires or other armor he can see.

He might be able to heal, but Mercury wants to know how /fast/ he can do so.
