There's a flash of green light, and the heroes arrive abruptly.

"Go!" the Green Lantern declares.

Arthur sat on the throne in the main hall in Poseidionis and looked over at his wife. When Mera looked over at him he smiled.

"They will be here soon. You know how children are and they probably have a tale to tell of some grand adventure," she told him as they waited for the young Atlanteans to arrive in the great hall. Today was the day of the official announcement of Arthur Jr. as being the heir to the throne.

"I know," Arthur said as he took one of Mera's hands in his own.

Things were perfect for the king of Atlantis. His wife of many decades sat beside him on the throne as queen and his three children had grown up into fine adults. All of Atlantis' enemies were incarcerated and peace reigned in his kingdom for the first time in many millennia.

Arthur Jr. was the eldest and heir to the throne. He was everything a father could ask for in a son. Strong and brave, but compassionate and caring not to mention wise beyond his young years. Arthur Jr. would make a fine king after Arthur.

Koryak had adapted to life in Atlantis rather well and was nothing but supportive of his older brother. The two were almost inseparable and got along like two brothers who had grown up together. The curse of two brothers fighting for Atlantis had finally been broken.

Caitria, the apple of his eye, had grown into a beautiful young woman and was taking an interest in Atlantean politics. One day she'd make a good adviser to her brother and with any luck she would find a nice man and marry.

Things couldn't get more perfect.

Henry seems to be taking care of his dad, so Dinadan skids to a halt at the first hero he comes across.

Oh man. If he screws this up, Cait's going to kill him. But there's no time to think about that.

"I'm sorry your Majesty, but it's time to wake up," he says, and reaches gingerly for the Black Mercy attached to Aquaman's chest. As the glow from the gloves washes over the plant, it shivers and the tendrils' grip begins to loosen. "Wake up. We need your help."

Arthur watched his three children enter the great hall. He smiled when he saw them, but the smile quickly faded when the form of Arthur Jr. suddenly vanished. Arthur looked over at Mera for a moment to see if she knew what happened and she to disappeared.

He looked back at Koryak and Cait. A guy appeared next to Cait and his arm went around her. She stopped and kissed him. Koryak stopped walking and stared at Arthur.

What was happening? Why did his son and wife vanish and why was Cait kissing a guy he didn't know?

Others suddenly appeared in the great hall and Arthur recognized them for who they were. Enemies of Atlantis. A messenger came into the hall and declared that enemy troops were attacking. What was happening? His perfect world was turning into a nightmare.

In the distance he could hear someone calling to him.

"You've got a Black Mercy on you. Wake up! You have to fight it off!"

Dinadan works his gloved fingers deeper into the mass of tendrils and tests the Black Mercy's grip on the King of the Sea. It's not coming loose yet, but Aquaman is stirring and frowning in his sleep. Dinadan wishes that it was going faster, the others need all the help they can get as soon as they can get it.

"Wake up, your majesty!"

	The voice is getting closer and louder. Arthur looked around. The world around him started to fade. Atlanis, his family, his enemies were all disappearing. Eventually everything was gone and there was nothing but black. Arthur opened his eyes and blinked a few times. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

"Yes! You're awake!"

As the words are coming out of his mouth, it occurs to Dinadan that cheering triumphantly in front of someone who just watched his dream world turn into a nightmare is probably not the best plan. He cringes and launches into an explanation.

"Mongul is using Black Mercy on you and the other adults. The other kids are holding him off for now, but we really need your help!"

Please don't thump the messenger, Aquaman.

	The words sink in a little slowly as his mind tries to catch up to what's being said. Mongul. Black Mercy. Kids. Kids meant...no his daughter would not be here. She better not be here. "Cait? Where's Cait?" he asked as he sat up. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

"You've got to recover from the Mercy," Dinadan says, finally pulling the plant all the way off. "There are probably parademons between here and where we need to go, and we could really use you at full capacity."

He's just going to go and toss this particular Mercy into the next room, for lack of a better idea of what to do with it, and run to the next adult before Aquaman notices the lack of answer to that question.

	Oh Arthur did notice the lack of an answer to his question which meant that Cait was here and was probably in trouble. He stood up and started running. Thankfully the air was humid enough that he wasn't too weak from being away from water. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

Ray ducks under the flailing tendrils from the new culture, rolling and diving back out of reach. "The new experiment is just as reactive as we hoped it might be. The antibodies are attacking me, even though the suit is designed so I'd identify as..."

He's cut off by the call back over comms. "Dr. Palmer, you've been testing the samples for over four hours."

"Yes Marilyn, you worry too much. I'm not that old yet. I can still handle..."

"No, Dr. Palmer, its not that. You're going to be late. The nobel prize presentation, remember? For your son? Your plane is due to leave in less than two hours."

"Other way!" Dinadan shouts after Aquaman as he does exactly what he'd known he'd do. If he's going to insist on running into parademons before he's recovered, he might as well go in the right direction.

He's about to move onto the next closest adult when he spots glimpse of a very familiar costume through tangle of vines.

"Dad!"

Dinadan trips over his own feet running to his father's side, and lands hard on the floor next to him, grabbing a hold of the Mercy in the same movement. He doesn't know how worried he should be that his dad isn't six inches tall or his full human height, but it's unusual enough to worry him plenty.

	He's bruised and bleeding too -- the last time Dinadan looked like this, he was seven and had just rolled himself down a big hill inside an old coffee can. 	"Dad!" Yes! His dad's okay! "Mongul kidnapped you and pretty much all of the other adult heroes and has been keeping you all down and out with Black Mercies," Dinadan explains in a rush, pulling the Mercy off the rest of the way. He breaks into a relieved grin under the dust and blood. "I'd hug you, but my hands are full. Lemme go toss this." His dad's okay! (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

"Then I'll try her next!"

Dinadan tosses this handful into the next room as well, and then looks around for a Mercy tangle that might be holding Wonder Woman. If it doesn't effect her as much, then she'll probably wake up faster, and more people awake is a very good plan.

The bundle he selects turns out to contain Troia, but maybe she's got a similar possible-resistance to the maybe-chemical effect. Either way, no point in stopping part way through...
