Mothers and Daughters
Since being back in San Francisco Cait had spent most of her free time in the bay with Hope. She had her job back at the aquarium and life with the Titans was good. Cait was happy, but she would not deny that she had an empty spot in her heart. She could never return to Atlantis and that hole in her heart would be there for as long as she was exiled.

Cait knew she would see her parents. They still loved her and she loved them and they would be by to visit. Well her mother would be. Arthur was a different story and if he did show up, it would probably be to bring her back to Atlantis. Try to. Cait would not go willingly.

Today was a day off of work and Cait was down in the bay playing with Hope.

An environment with little stress, and Mera realized she may have just made things much worse. Forget the succession issue, if Atlantis was in danger Arthur would take a harder line.

If she couldn't smooth it along the way and she had every expectation that she could.

"We did need to know about this, Cait. I can't promise that there won't be stress. All of us are having to make changes and it is naturally stressful at times. However, I can promise you that I will do my best to make your visits as stress free as possible. I will also explain it to your father."

Ty nods. "Its... tricky. As long as I'm mentally linked to someone who is emotionally stable, I'm fine. Cait is my usual anchor, Ruth helps out. The... uhm... abilities of the Secret Society of Supervillains aren't the only powers I have... they're just the ones I control. Which means I can move Atlantis, but the other... 200 some powersets sometimes show up if I get stressed and I don't have an anchor." he explains, in the interests of full disclosure.

"So there is danger involved... but there's also a lot I can potentially offer."

"There's been some interesting ones," Cait admitted trying to forget Captain Stingaree and perverted mustache man. "We try to keep them from manifesting, but it can be difficult when I am also stressed or upset."

"I see. The life of an Atlantean royal can be stressful," Mera said. Her resolve didn't weaken. She was not losing her only living child.

She sipped her tea. It had been quite nice to watch Cait make it. Ty was in part responsible for Cait's well being, and that earned him leeway with Mera. "We start with a visit. Then two, three, and so on. We'll take it one at time."

"The life of the Titans here isn't precisely easy either. I'm confident we'll be fine. And, like I said, there is benefits with the risks. I may be able to help out with some of Atlantis' issues to make up for it."

"We'll be fine," Cait said in agreement. Or so she hoped. They'd find out one way or another. "Will you please tell Arthur we will be in Atlantis in two weeks?" They could get lucky and have an alien invasion or something and would require the Titans.

Mera's own thoughts echoed Cait's. One way or another, they would see how it went. "I will tell your father." She finished her tea. "I should return and let you discuss it between the two of you." She rose and put her cup in the sink. "I enjoyed our visit."

Cait hugged her mother and dropped a kiss on her cheek. "Thanks. We will see you soon."

Mera hugged her back. "I look forward to it, Cait." She kissed her cheek.

She left, feeling more hope than she had when she arrived, and returned to her husband with the news.
