It's Friday Night: Do You Know Where Your Superhero Kids Are?
Henry grins as he makes certain the bowls of chips are filled. Sodas are available. He's got a hidden stash of beers in his room, but... it's an underage superhero party. They're not visible to most. Those who want one will know to ask him.

People will be arriving soon. He's got tunes, he's got snacks and drinks, he's got games set up to go, and he's got superhero kids coming from all over. While the primary purpose was to make certain the YJLA got a chance to meet Avalon and Josh, the Titans and others have all been invited, too.

This party will rock.

"Well, of course you got accepted to all of them. You're super-smart. Wherever you go, you're going to make a big splash. Or is it a big gale?" he asks, going for some power-based humor.

Yes, it's lame, but it's all he's got.

"Have you checked out any of the campuses? Maybe that'll help you out? I think I'm going to apply for Coast City University and Louisiana State University next year, among others. Both of the campuses are excellent, and if I get accepted in Coast City, I can still hang with Henry." he says.

Traya giggled at the power joke. "I'm hoping for no big gales," she said, trying to stifle further giggles. "Don't need to start tornado season early."

She nodded. "I'm mostly thinking about Metropolis U. It's a bit away, but it's close to home still, and it's close to a STAR Labs, 'cause I still have to get check-ups every now and then there with my powers and all."

She laughed at his joke. He was tempted to make another, but there was no sense in pushing his luck.

He sobered a little when she mentioned that she needed to get check-ups for her powers. He's never needed to worry about such things with his powers. They just work with no issues, and he's never really questioned.

"Traya...does it hurt when you use your powers or something?" he asks. "You don't have answer that if you don't want to."

Jai nodded at Traya's words, seeing her in a new light. She had no idea what would happen due to something beyond her control, yet she remained with the team and put herself out there to help other people.

She reminded him of Mia, whom he also admired.

"I never knew you had so much to deal with. But you don't let it get you down, and you don't let it stop you from being who you are. I really admire that." he says.

"I'm glad you came, tonight, Traya. I was hoping I'd see you." After I stopped freaking out about it.

He smiled at her.

Yeah. With Dad being a robot and all, no one really knew what the effects of a synthetic, blood-like compound in her body was really going to do, long term, other than the fact that her body seemed to be making more of it, just like it would blood. And the wind powers, of course.

He'd wanted to see her? What? Huh? Why?

"You were?" she asked, a nervous smile on her face.

What are you even talking about, man?

"I was hoping we'd get to talk, maybe get to know each other a little better. Now, I didn't set this whole thing up, but I'm not sorry that it's giving us a chance to check each other out." he says.

"And by that I mean, check out how well we know each other....without other people around." he rambles. "Throw me a line here, Traya, I'm drowning."

He laughs.

Jai was certain that Henry and everyone in the house just heard his jaw hit the floor. They probably felt the seismic wave.

Traya liked him. She liked Jai West. Not Henry Jordan, or Jon Kent...but Jai West. Forming words was a little difficult, and Jai wisely took a moment to think about the next thing he would say.

And then it hit him, like a lightning bolt.

He looks toward the house, then Traya, a grin forming on his face.

"This party is awesome, but...I don't want to go back in just yet and get the questioning looks from everyone just yet...

You wanna race?" he asks.

After the first two hundred miles, he's expecting to have to go back for her. When he sees that she's keeping up, he smiles to himself.

The only person who's ever kept up with him in speed before this is Iris. Henry doesn't count because the ring is cheating.

Several minutes later, they are on a beach somewhere in Mexico, near the water. Jai thinks this is Puerto Vallarta, but he's not sure. In any event, there's no one in this area of the beach, other than them.

"I like coming here to think, or my brain gets friend. Doing my homework here is pretty awesome. This plus math is relaxing." he says, picking up a rock from the beach and tossing it across the water a super-speed. It skips several times into the distance before sinking.

	She might not quite have the speed level of Flashes, but with a powerful tailwind behind her, Traya can fly pretty darn fast. Either way, she's glad for the break. "I love math, Traya. I'm taking Algebra II/Tri now, and I'm hoping to do a little summer school once school is out to get my Trignometry credit out of the way for next year so I can go straight into Calculus.

Don't tell Henry or Iris...but I'm trying to graduate early. I'm keeping up with everything well enough, but super-speed helps in a lot of ways that people don't understand." he says.

He can't help it; Jai smiles like an idiot at Traya's revelation of her own love for math.

"I really thought I was the only person on Earth who liked math that wasn't named Asimov or Einstein. You and I need to start a club. We'll call it the 'Just Us' League.

Because when it comes to liking math, well, it's Just Us." he says.

"Seriously, all my friends, my parents, and Irey think I'm crazy." he says. "But...the numbers just line up for me when I look at them, I guess. Math makes sense.

History, on the other hand, is not my thing. I've got a tenuous B-Average in History, so I know when Independence Day is, but it's sketchy beyond that." he says.

"What's your least favorite subject?"

She nodded. "I've been able to do math really well ever since I was a little kid. Got to go to a special school and take classes with older girls and everything."

And room with Cissie, which had been fun.

"English, probably. I mean, I like to read and all, but I dunno. I just don't 'get' some of it sometimes. And don't get me started on Shakespeare."
