By Your Powers Combined
That only a fraction of the Young Justice Leaguers had returned with the Earthlings playing host to the shards of the Emotional Entities was worrying for Ganthet.  Worse, that some of them had been captured by the Manhunters.   Those taken by the Green Lanterns, well, he had to believe that his Brothers would treat them humanely, if not exactly in comfort.  Those that were there, and the Leaguers themselves, deserved an explanation.

"My name is Ganthet," he began, "and I am--or was--one of the Guardians of the Universe.  My people were among the first lifeforms to evolve in the universe and to make up for the failing of one of our own, we have been attempting to safeguard the universe ever since.  To do that, we learned to harness a power even greater and older than ourselves, the Lights of the Emotional Spectrum."

As he spoke, again, he illustrated his point with green power.  "In the beginning, there was nothing.  Darkness reigned.  And then there came the White Light, and this was the Light of Life.  Life reigned for a time... and then... something more.

There came the Will to live, and Ion, Green Avatar of Willpower, was born.  Simple creatures, living in the waters, but slowly, they came to know Fear, fear of being attacked and eaten, the 'flight or fight' response that all living beings hold.  From this Fear came Parallax and the Yellow Light.  But Life continued to endure.  The passion that was Love eventually ignited and the Predator and the Violet Light were born.  When the first creature ate what it did not need, Avarice and Ophidian of the Orange Light, arose.  The first murder, sparked from jealous Rage, gave birth to the Red Light and the Butcher.  Tragedy gave birth to prayer, which sparked the Blue Light of Hope and the creation of Adara.  And at last, Compassion, rarest of the Emotions and a Light still not fully understood, gave rise to the Indigo Entity called Proselyte.

Each of these Lights and Entities has been harnessed by factions within the universe, each using them to empower a Corps, wielding their power through Rings.

In more recent times, the Black, the color of lifelessness and death, took up arms against the other Entities and the White Entity of Light, which lies safely ensconced within this world.  When this happened for the second time, and the Entities were imprisoned.  They were freed, by the efforts of Lanterns and heroes from this planet.

But the Entities were changed by their imprisonment, fragmented.  They recovered, but a piece of them was... missing.  Their pieces eventually made their way here, to this world, home of the White Light.  They found hosts here, you, and others like you.

You are the future of humanity, the Lights of the Emotional Spectrum and humanity, unique throughout the cosmos, united into something that has never been seen before.  You have the potential to usher in a New Age.

But not all are happy with this.  My Brothers, the Guardians of the Universe, seek to control Emotion with logic and reason alone.  The Manhunters wish to suppress emotion themselves, to kill it under cold, machine logic.  The others of you must be rescued.  Or this entire universe is doomed."

"You would presume to tell us what to do?" a female Guardian demanded.

"You do not understand the threat these individuals represent. The Butcher. Ophidian. Parallax. Any of them alone would be cause for concern. But add the others, and it spells disaster. Half the forces of the galaxy will be out for their blood."

"Brothers, Sisters, have we judged to quickly? We are not... without our mistakes."

Their attention fixed itself upon Jon once more. "You swear, upon your life and honor?"

Jon fixes his gaze upon the female Guardian, then the one commenting on the threat.

"I've faced users of the red and the yellow... so please don't tell me I don't know the threat they present."

He pauses.

"However, I recently faced my undead father - and it ultimately took all of the spectrum in order to defeat that threat. What I need you to understand, all of you, is the threat presented if those lights, that power is not available when it is needed.

There is always danger. Always. But with sufficient will, it can be overcome. Not contained, not hidden away - overcome. I cannot promise that none of them will ever be a threat, or that there is no danger in this... but I have confidence that the correct approach is to give them a chance to do good, and the greatest opportunity will come from it. Because even if one or two did become a danger... there would still be five or six with the potential to become heroes, to help stop them. I feel that they should be given that chance.

And upon my life, if you free those you have had captured, should there be a danger, I swear on my life, and on my honor, I will do everything I can to help make sure it doesn't spread.

But trying to keep the lights contained invites another Blackest Night."

The Guardians turned their attention on each other, seeming to confer without speaking.

"Very well," one said at last.

"It would seem," another said, "the choice has been taken from us anyway. Our wayward brother has already freed the holders of the Indigo and Orange shards."

Jon nods. "You had to know about the rescue effort... but you still came to the right decision, and as soon as the lanterns are called off, we'll leave in peace.

And more importantly, should the Guardians of Oa need something in the future, for the benefit of all, I'm glad to be able to say that they can call upon me. I can't guarantee we'll always agree... but I'm willing to listen. And much happier to leave as an ally.

Thank you for your patience, wise ones." he adds, bowing deferentially. He may have shown up at cross purposes, but he respects their intent and goals, if not always methods.

The Guardians rose from their seats. "And you have our thanks as well, Jonathan Kent," one said.

"Come, Brothers, Sisters," said another. "Let us make the peace."

Jon lifts off again, moving to follow so the league will stop their assault as well, and he can demonstrate they've come to some kind of peace on this right away.

Then he gestures to the lantern who led him here. "Thank you. Tomar-Re would be proud."
