Winter Wonderland
Finally Chicago had enough snow to actually use for some fun. Deciding to have a bit of fun for once, Harry teleports up to the roof (more privacy from the general public) for a change of scenery. He's there for a bit, starting on a superhero snowman when he wonders if he should get some of the others to come join in, maybe for a good old fashioned snowball fight. He makes a snowball just to test out the snow and picks an easy target to lob it at, the door to the rooftop.

Unfortunately his snowball gets there just as the door opens.

	Throwing and dodging practice? Saishu clearly approves of this, as she gets the idea. "We should. Others will know about this snowball fight, yes?" she asks, as she begins packing a few more snowballs to make sure he gets in a good flying workout. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

"Yeah they will. It'll be fun. And good training I guess." He tacks that last part on somewhat hastily, he's still unused to snowball fights being considered training.

Flying back farther so she'll have slightly more of a challenge, he shouts over at her, "Okay, you can start whenever!"

Now that he knows the snowballs (and probably the iceballs too) won't do him damage he's far more relaxed. Plus, she didn't get mad about him hitting her with a snowball by accident.

In the mindset she was raised in, almost everything was training. There wasn't mass market toys. Farmers' children played in the dirt with small tools, hunters were encouraged to climb and swim and run and all. As a warrior, her toys were blunted small weapons, and her mother tested her almost fanatically, making 'games' of it. She doesn't have a lot of real concept of what normal children or a normal childhood might be like. As far as she knows, Cindy may well have been given a lemonade stand to run or some sort of math blocks or something to train her as a child - and she's less sure of the rest.

She begins pitching the snowballs, now quite engaged in this. She takes a bit off the throws, certainly, but tries to make sure its plenty challenging for him.

Having never been particularly confrontational, Harry had been wary of snowball fights when he was younger. It took some friends to get him to join in on one of the less competitive ones for him to see the fun. Still, he was uncomfortable with making it seem so war-like for Saishu. But if it meant she'd understand the concept better and maybe have some fun, then he'd live with it.

Harry flies through the air, awkwardly twisting and a few times he finds himself in an uncontrolled somersault, but he's largely doing rather okay for dodging her snowballs. This was probably one of the few times he'd really experimented with flying. Teleporting was easier, even if it took more of his reserved charge, and far less noticeable. But he'd admit this was rather fun.

As she gets used to it, she throws with just a little more power, testing his skills with her aim. As for seeming less warlike - its what she knows. Most things naturally associate back to it somehow. Throwing objects and dodging them is just an easier association than a lot of the things she's learned since her arrival - many of which just confuse her.

He gets better at controlling his movements in flight, managing to look slightly less awkward, but it's still clear he's learning. As the snowballs come faster it gets harder to dodge them, but he's improved enough that although less of them are missing him, they're mostly skimming or hitting any flailing limbs, no dead-center hits.

"Thanks but I'm still not so great," he flushes at the compliment. "If you want you can try flying while throwing them at me. Might help you practice too you know. If you don't want that...I guess you can put the red flames on the snowballs? Although I'm not sure if it'll melt them or how that works..."

	She levitates upward, mostly steady, but nothing fast or precise, a few snowballs tucked on one arm so she has ammunition. "Good idea. Need to practice flight. I... not angry with you, the red flame will not come. Just as good for practice without." (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

"Oh. Sorry, I don't know how people's powers work exactly," he apologizes, looking somewhat embarassed. But at the same time he's got a large smile stuck on his face. Because now he knows for sure she isn't mad about the snowball stunt, and he's feeling a lot less intimidated by her and more relaxed. Harry makes a mental note that red flames equal Saishu mad at you.

"Well we both need the practice so...hit me I guess." Harry levitates in place and waits for round 2 to begin.

	She shrugs. Good for teammates to know something about powers. She flings a couple more snowballs as she talks. "Do not know how works. Always strong, fast, can fly, breathe in high sky and water. He flies to and fro as he dodges snowballs, listening and taking note about how her powers work. "So you can only do red flames when mad? Got it. But it sounds better than that red...vomit thing I've heard of." He realizes that unless Saishu got mad at him, it wouldn't be too helpful to ask her to hit him with some of those flames for a recharge. It was always awkward asking for that stuff anyway, so he tries to keep a list in his head of people who can do that for him easily. Now he'll try not to bother her or ask about it.

"Umm well, my powers let me teleport and absorb energy as far as I can tell. But the teleporting takes energy so I need to have enough saved up," he offers. It was only fair she knew how his powers worked too.

She continues to throw the snowballs, adjusting a bit as she learns his dodging tendencies.

"Can do flames on weapon when fighting too, gets stronger more fight goes, or when mad." she offers, in slight correction. Like all her powers, her intensity and temper affect her powers - but they are based as much in her Amazon heritage, affected by the red, as in the red itself.

Harry flies to and fro, trying to dodge her throws. She's got his habits down, so he starts experimenting, not always successfully, but he's looking like he knows what he's doing a bit more. Not much still.

"That seems useful. Mine kind of rely on the rest of the team's a bit. I mean...I can do stuff myself but the...colours I guess, give me more of a charge. So...I'm sorry ahead of time if...well if I need to ask for any help with that," he says, looking rather embarrassed. That aspect of his powers always made him uncomfortable, and he really only ever got a good charge after one of the team's training sessions.

	She had some practice with thrown weapons before, which helps, and when it comes to athletic and combat skills, she's a quick learner. Still, this is practice for both of them, and she tries to make sure they both get a useful training session in with these snowballs. "Why sorry? Is what team is for, yes?" 	"I'm sure I could absorb it fine, I'd just...rather not have you mad at me," he explains while shaking out his hair. "That's true, I just want to be useful and not a bother." Hard to tell." she replies, going into her own evasive maneuvers - which she is, in theory, very good at, with her enhanced reflexes, though her lack of practice and finesse with flying actually slows her down. He laughs and dives for more snow. He's clearly more relaxed now and not so intimidated anymore as he's grinning as he throws snowballs back at her.

As one snowball hits him in the shoulder, he chuckles and decides that he's not making things hard enough for her. Wasn't training supposed to challenge you anyway?

Harry disappears in a flash of indigo light and appears behind her, throwing a few snowballs at her back.

	It surprises her at first, and she tenses... then grins wider after the first shot pegs her. Dirty tricks, apparently, are entirely fair game. She goes diving and rolling, snagging what cover she can and winging a snowball back towards him. Yep, definitely enjoying these snowball fights. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

He considered it fair game, he had told her about that part of his powers after all. She'd helped him with his flight training, he was just returning the favour.

He decides to flying around to dodge her next shot, trying to conserve energy. Collecting some more snow, then flying away to put some distance between them as fast as possible, Harry hovers past the edge of the HQ roof.

"Your turn to dodge now," he grins as he packs down another.

	She nods, readying herself, and lifting up higher, letting her see a wider area, though now she's on alert for signs of teleportation. After all, she's viewing this as training, and opponents certainly won't play fair - so snowball fights pulling out all the stops are that much better. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

Still smiling, he was actually finding this fun, Harry takes a deep breath before beginning his snowball assault. And the first flash of indigo marks the beginning.

He flashes in and out, appearing behind her, to the side, on top, underneath, everywhere he can. There's the occassional pause in the flurry of snowballs as he takes an extra teleport or two once in a while to restock on ammo. But he does his best to give her a challenge.

	She's never fought a teleporter before - and the experience is exhilerating, matching her speed and enhanced reflexes against the unexpected. Sometimes she wins, sometimes she's hit - and all signs are that either way, she's reveling in the challenge. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

The teleports he's doing are short, and individually they don't take all that much energy, but he can still feel the markings on his arms very slowly receding the more he does. This is the one power of his that's he's gotten a good handle on, and short distances were the easiest.

He tries switching up his patterns, hoping to keep her off guard. He doesn't mind that this is training technically, he's having a lot of fun with super-powered snowball fights.

He debates doing the next thing, wondering how she'll take it, but he's feeling more confident now than he was at the beginning and decides he'll take a chance.

The next flash of light doesn't appear at a distance from her, instead it appears right behind her, and very quickly Harry teleports them both directly above a large pile of snow on the roof. He's aiming to drop her onto the pile, hoping the teleporting disoriented her a bit.

	That definitely catches her off guard. As she hits the snow, for a moment, she almost flails, and her first instinct is to lash out with surprise. The red and her training is reigned in by discipline, and the training mindset, and she ends up grinning instead, shaking snow out of her hair. "Good trick." (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)
