Flu Bug From Hell (Jon)
Maria hadn't felt well when she went to bed and this morning she felt a hundred times worse. Last night she was achy, this morning she was achy plus it felt like someone had wrapped a towel around her head. Her nose was stuffed and she could feel the sinus pressure. She shivered when she climbed out of bed and added a fever to the list of complaints. She put on her fuzzy slippers and fuzzy robe to seek out some java heaven.

She trudged her way downstairs for some coffee and was immediately told to go back to bed by Bruce. She didn't of course. The couch in the living room was just as comfortable, if not more, as her bed. Not to mention she had a huge library of movies to watch.

Tea and toast were brought to her along with a down comforter. She curled up on the couch and mindlessly watched daytime talk shows. She slept on and off all day and when the light outside was dimming she remembered that tonight she was supposed to out with Jon. She grabbed her cell and called him. There was no way she was going to be able to move from the couch.

"I thought he liked giving people disapproving looks," Maria said. "Or maybe I'm lucky and I'm the one who gets all of those."

"He likes those too. Especially the ones where he gets to use one of his many variations on the Bat-scowl."

"I think I may have seen every version of the bat-scowl," Maria said thoughtfully. "Then again I do give him a lot to scowl about. You should have seen the one I got when he found out about my night job. The /other/ night job."

"He has a lot of them. I used to imagine he practiced scowling in the mirror. I'd imagine he was none too pleased - but then you know I was surprised, so I can only imagine he would be."

"And you turned such a lovely shade of red," Maria teased.

"There it is," she said when she noticed him blushing. "No one would ever accuse you of that. I did appreciate your help on that issue."

Maria smiled. He never failed to amaze her with how kind and caring he could be. "How about just for a movie?" She knew he had things to do and she didn't want to be too selfish.
