Call from Home
Oksana will receive a priority call from her direct superior from back in Kiev, Sergeant Vasyl Andreiko. An injury in the line of duty forced him into desk work, but it didn't stop him from being involved in the Ukrainian military. More importantly he was one of the few people in the Spetsnaz who gave Oksana a chance.

Well, this was a bit strange. At least it wasn't Pyotr trying to call and get phone numbers from the superheroines. Again. Supposedly, he had been busted down very hard, but that wasn't important now.

"*Sergeant Andrieko. Good to hear from you sir."

*Translated from Ukranian

"You as well, Starshina Rasputin. I wish I could say it was a social call, but I've received word from command about a recent development. Are you alone?"

Good thing this was not a voice call, because there was A Look.

"I am. If need be, I will be able to find a place more isolated, if you wish Sir."

"Command requests a degree of.. subtlety."

His tone indicated he didn't sound any happier about this than Oksana did.

"Of course they do when they call me. What kind of subtlety is required?"

There may be a ducking into a side room for this part of the conversation.

He sighs, clearly annoyed by events.

"Have you ever heard of Operative Proteus?

Well now.

"I have heard of Proteus, yes. Never had a chance to meet the operative, but the...reputation is well known."

"Neither have I, but odds are he's met both of us." The sergeant said ominously before continuing. Command tells me he's gone rogue.

"Well...that puts him at a distinct advantage, then. Tell me, what is the proof he has gone rogue?"

There is a sharpness to the question. This is a serious accusation.

Transferring data to you now. We have footage of him in the guise of oneof his aliases meeting with Abkhazian extremists in Georgia. In this footage he kills a Georgian government official.

There is a swear under the breath as Oksana hears those words. This is...upsetting doesn't even describe it. She may well not have much of an opinion on the whole situation between Georgia and Abkhazian, but she knew just how much of a powderkeg it was.

This was unbelievable.

"I will look over the data and make my way there. My teammates know of my responsibilities, and according to JLI guidelines I can have personal time that I can use to undertake this."

"Command would prefer you take him in alive to answer for what he has done. If not, the sergeant signs resignedly. death is acceptable. Watch yourself, Rasputin, there is more to this than Command is telling. I can feel it.

"Understood."

Oksana can't say much of anything beyond that, because she knows what would happen should she fail. Another conflict in the Caucasus area could very well lead to disaster, and if it involved a Ukranian, even a rogue one...bad things could happen.

Although there is no one to do so, Oksana nods as the call ends.

There is another swear under her breath, and a quick movement to her room.

Meanwhile, outside of the room where Oksana is finishing up her phone call, someone else is crawling out of the air duct and down the fishing line he'd tied to the vent opening.

Dinadan hadn't meant to eavesdrop, and really, it's not like he'd understood anything that he'd heard. His Ukranian is still limited to phrases along the lines of where is the bathroom and run, you fools, we're all going to die!. But it had sounded serious, and he doesn't want her to come out of the room and see the fishing line and think that he's been eavesdropping on purpose. So if he can just get the line untied and into his pocket -- like so -- then he can just be passing by, completely not like someone who's accidentally overheard one of his new teammates having a serious, private conversation.

Assuming he doesn't trip and fall flat on his face in front of the door.

To say that Oksana was distracted was an understatement. So unless he were to become an obvious presence she would not do more and give a curt wave. It isn't meant to be rude, but to indicate she was preoccupied.

Depends on how obvious a presence she considers a teenage boy flat on his face on the floor.

"Hi, sorry, I'm a klutz. Hi."

"Yes, sorry," Dinadan agreed, climbing to his feet and dusting off his pants. "Do you need any help with it? Well, you said "personal", but if it's something someone here could help out with, I'm sure they'd offer."

Dinadan...dithers.

She said it was personal business. And he doesn't have any reason to disbelieve her. Well, aside from the gut feeling that had held him crouching at the ventilation opening, listening to her converse with a person he couldn't hear in a language he didn't speak. She's a special forces agent. His friends are not terrible people and their poor judgement is not contagious.

Dinadan moans quietly, and sets off after Oksana, hating himself every step of the way.

The ride from the JLI headquarters through Europe and into Russia was very quick and without incident, which is a damn good thing. She was still technically special forces, but procurement of paperwork to ensure she has the same name without the...credentials that normally came with it.

Once in Eastern Europe, there are several...ways into Georgia. Many of them less than legal, a number *very* illegal, and still others worse. Oksana made damn sure to make a slightly less than legal route, taking in a smuggling plane carrying supplies that are not directly allowed but are very assistive.

Once there, Oksana lets her magic reach out, slowly manipulating the probabilities in her favor. Finding Proteus will not be easy in normal circumstances, and when an agent has gone off the grid is harder still. She needed every chance she could...

A small piece of paper Catches Her Eye. To an untrained eye, it looks like it'll just get stuck on her boot, but she makes sure to duck out of sight and look at it. It was a reciept, one most likely form some small boutique. the few available in Georgia proper. That is odd in and of itself, but the name of the client is what clinches it for Oksana: Matryoshka.

Not entirely subtle. Now, to backtrack to this shop...

As she make her way to the shop, a man in an American-style red hooded jacket subtly looked her way before returning to his newspaper, sitting casually on a bench.

Once she figures out where the shop is, Oksana plays the part of helpful person as she tries to say that she found this receipt and want to return it. Obviously, this didn't get her much, but with a teensy bit of pressure from her magic made an alarm turn off and let Oksana use the distraction to swipe a key and press it in a mold hidden in the pocket of her jacket before replacing it. If she had the money for a receipt machine, most likely there was a camera system. And she had the receipt and time this purchase was made...now she just needed to mold the key and come see what this Matryoshka looked like.

The man watches Oksana walk into the store, smiling slightly from the confines of the hood. He casually gets up, folding his paper, and lights a cigarette, appearing all the world as just another citizen.

When night comes, Oksana makes her way back to the shop, using her training and that touch of luck magic to make her way in without gaining unwanted attention.

now she makes her way to the security area of the building, which consists of...a rather old looking computer and several large and antiquated screens. This looks ancient even compared to the stuff she used in Kiev.

"Not exactly the finest in modern technology, but one works with one must." The man from the square in the red hoodie leaned casually against the wall.
