Karaoke Night
Maria's social life had taken a huge hit with the undercover gig and working at Wayne Enterprises. What social time she did have she saw Tomas a few times. She finally got a free night and it was time to pick on a favorite target. She called Jon and told him to meet her at her favorite karaoke bar and to bring his little sister and Alina if he were inclined.

She thought about dragging Thomas, but decided to give him a break. She could use the good karma later.

	Without Maria or Alina dragging him out, Jon has pretty much been focused on the JLA and work. As such, he can agree easily enough that its time for a break. He calls the other two, offering a lift as needed. (Reply to this)(Thread)

	Alina's always appreciative of a lift, even if the presence of Jon's younger sister means she's going to have to be on her very best behavior. She'd prefer to tiptoe through actually meeting Jon's parents without worrying that she set herself a booby trap. "Of course we made it!" she says cheerfully. "All work and no play, et cetera!" And Jo will get herself a Shirley Temple, sit, smile, and applaud.

Then she'll bounce up to the stage and sign herself up for Piece of My Heart And when she bounces up to the stage, her voice takes on a thousand miles of bad road that it really, really shouldn't have. She's not imitating Janis absolutely -- it'd either be disturbing or dull, depending on whether lip-synching was assumed -- but it's certainly more evocative of the original than one could reasonably expect from a 17-year-old non-smoker.

	Jon goes up next, settling in up on stage. He's signed up first for Johnny Cash's Ring of Fire. Subdued, full of gravel, and doing a pretty good match in tone for the Man in Black. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

"You all just want to make me look back," Alina says with an exaggerated pout, as if she hadn't whooped and cheered for all three of them. She drops a kiss on Jon as he's heading back to the table while she's going the other way for her turn on the stage.

Tonight's starter song is Lenka's Trouble Is A Friend, and while it's not as vocally spectacular as what the Super-siblings brought, the grin and the eyelash-batting are dead give-aways that she's having fun.

Jon is cheering and clapping for Alina, grinning just a little extra at the flirty winks.

When she's done, he grabs his sister's arm, leading her up on stage for a duet. He doesn't bother to tell her what he requested, quite sure she'll roll with any challenge he can give her.

Shifting tone completely, he gets the start of the country tragedy duet Whiskey Lullabye, requiring her to harmonize, while dropping her voice under his to do the backup vocals. Second verse its his turn, dropping under her to softly back her rendition of Allison Krause's section.

	Roll with it Jo did, enjoying the change of pace, the dramatic effects, and Jon's knack for backup. Afterwards, she downs her drink. "Looking forward to a lot of new projects."
