To Rescue the King of the Seas
Cerdian had given Cait the kick in the ass she needed to get things moving to rescue her father. No one else was going to rescue Arthur. The Atlantis stuff...well that was something she would deal with later. Getting Arthur back on the throne was the most important thing at the moment. Her issues with him could be worked on later. Maybe. It depended on Arthur.

She slipped into her uniform and called AJ, Cerdian and the Titans. They didn't have to go, but she would ask for their help.

"I can't do it," Cait said quietly. "I can't free Atlantis on my own and I won't ask the Titans to help. It's not their problem."

Cait still didn't want anything to do with Atlantis, yet it kept pulling her back. She wasn't going to go back without a fight.

"Come back to Titans' Tower and heal up. Then...." She paused. She didn't want to say this. "Then we can work on Atlantis."

Despite the pain, he pushes himself up to his feet, using a wall for support. "You mean you won't. You can if you set your mind to it, but you won't. You're willing to abandon your home for the surface and playing at some aquarium because you're scared. You need to grow up, realize what you're capable of, and live up to your responsibilities - both as a Princess, and a sovereign of Atlantis. And if you won't, I damn sure will. Let me off any time. I'm not going to wait around while my people are tortured and killed by a madman."

	Ty feels Cait sever their link... which just makes things worse. He desperately wants to go after her... but this stupid power manifestation won't let him leave the ship. It'd be un-piratey. Fighting against it just makes it worse, and the ship's course becomes increasingly erratic as his hands shake on the wheel. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	Cait swam as fast as she could to get away from the ship. She didn't want the Titans involved in this. She wouldn't have them risking their lives for Atlantis. It wasn't their problem. She reached back with her powers and turned the water around the ship to a thick viscous sludge. Hopefully that would slow it down. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

Cerdian had taken a break to let Cait and Arthur talk, but as soon as the ship lurches, he goes to see what's wrong.

Of course, moments later, he heard Dinah's call.

"Fool girl. You /would/ listen to everything I said but the part about letting us help." Cerdian grumbles, leaping into the water.

The sludge won't long be an issue, as Cerdian begins muttering to himself, forcing the sludge to part with the whispered cantrip.

Then, he takes off after Cait.

	Cait knew someone was following her, but she didn't slow. She was mad at Arthur and that anger drove her on. Whomever it was they could catch up or be left behind in the bubbles. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	Cerdian does indeed try to do just that, swimming as fast as possible to catch up to Cait. Of course, he's also going to cheat a little bit and reach out with his power to try to get the waters to slow her down a bit. "Cait, you can't just charge in there alone! "Why do you always do that? You would risk your life for anyone on that ship and it would 'the right thing to do'. Most importantly, it would be /your/ choice, which is what you always say you want. You want your choices to be yours and no one else's." Cerdian says.

"Yet," he continues, "the moment anyone else chooses to help /you/, you take those choices away because you 'can't ask' someone to do for you what you would do without question. Caitria, none of those people would /be/ here if they didn't want to risk themselves to help you. You rushing off alone disrespects their friendship and their caring for you for the sake of saying you finally did your duty to Atlantis. You treat Atlantis and the Titans as thought it /must/ be one or the other. Why can it not be both?" he asks plainly.

"As for me...I am a son of Atlantis and I will defend her with or without your leave, Princess Caitria." he says bowing to her.

"You are my sovereign, however, so you have the first right of refusal as to how my life will be spent in it her defense...and yours."

"Because Atlantis is poison and insanity," she said. "I don't want the team getting mixed up in all of that. Atlantis brings nothing but grief to people. You know that as well as I do. That's why I try to keep the Titans away from anything to deal with Atlantis."

Cait stopped swimming and hugged him.

"I love you, Sharkbait." She kissed his cheek. "I will not command you or ask you to help me, but if you want to I am not going to stop you."

"You do not have to ask or command because it is my duty to help you. I wish you would consider asking the rest of the Titans to join us, though. Ty will be saddened if you're hurt or injured when he wasn't there. I also wish you thought better of your people." Cerdian says.

"That said, if you choose to go now, I go alongside you." he says, his violet eyes aglow with power.

"Ty can't handle this right now," Cait said. "He'd be endangering everyone if he went along."

"I don't think bad of the people of Atlantis, it's the politics. Arthur will kill me, but when we get back you should read the Chronicles."

Cait looked away. "I have to go. I don't have a choice." She looked back at him and kissed his cheek. "I have an idea. It may be crazy enough to work."

"I love you, too, Caitria." Cerdian says. "I will read the Chronicles when we get back, but I don't believe my opinion will change.

Then Cait says the most dreaded words in the language of Princess Little Fish.

"You know, the last time you said 'it may be crazy enough to work', we both ended up grounded for three months...and the sharks still hate me." Cerdian says.
