The Final Act

"Well, well, well... Brion Markov, you have a bastard daughter. Who would have guessed, right?"

Frederick chuckled as he paced back and forth. Behind the plate glass window, locked in a shuttle, were Calypso and Brion Markov. Frederick took the time out of his day to mock them from the control center. He had figured out the relation between the two heroes some time ago, and it was a point of pride for Frderick that Brion hadn't known until just that moment.

"And now that the two of you are helpless, I'm going to make sure you really leave this world. My mother was the one that gave Geo-Force his powers, Brion. I know exactly how to kill you, and your daughter. Oh, how I anticipate your dying words. What kind of touching moment will it be?"

He cut off the transmission for the moment and cackled. Then he checked in his new motley crew of Geo-Force mock-ups.

Frederick slammed his hands down on the console, careful to avoid any of the controls. His minions hadn't contacted him about the visiting heroes in Markovia. They were wise to the fact that he could end their measly existences at any moment, so there was only one reason for them to not respond to him; they h ad been taken out.

"Looks like you had a trick up your sleeve that I didn't see, girl. But, that won't stop me from killing you."

he slammed his hand down on the button to initiate the countdown until launch. In one minute, Brion and Calypso would be flying for space.

Frederick turned and snarled at the Outsiders. He hadn't expected them to find him so soon. Of course, he always had a trick up his sleeve.

"Don't waste your time on me. You have less than a minute to save your friend and her father."

He smirked, and then pressed another button. Cue the corny self-destruct sequence, just to add on to the danger. No time for a fight between them, and then Frederick made for the exit.

	In nearly two decades, the bad guys hadn't changed. Red Robin looses three disks at Frederick as the man runs. Then he runs for the machine. "Manhunter, get to that rocket? I'm going to try to stop the countdown!" he says, heading toward the machine. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

Stopping the rocket probably isn't an option at this point, Manhunter realizes but there is another way to get them out. Intangibility is kind of like phasing...

J'anna swallows hard and steps up to the rocket...then into it while intangible. She doesn't emerge the other side, though. Instead, there is a sick cracking sound in the structure of the rocket and the Martian is expelled back from it.

The rocket is notably weakened.

"Someone, kick the weak spots. We can get them out."

J'anna, however, is bleeding. Note to self...rockets hurt.
