Let This Be Your Last Battlefield
The small planetoid was uninhabited and nothing more than a rock in space rolling around double stars. It was the most unassuming place, but it would be the site of a battle that would determine the fate of the universe.

	Cap rushes forward, leading with the shield to deflect the blasters. Though he's zombified, its obvious he has Cap's moves, seeing as hoe he's managing to close the gap and push offense even while under fire, and is doing so quickly. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	Patriot draws him in closer, letting him come in, then feints an opening to Cap, hoping to take advantage of the incoming attack with his blaster. He knows how to make it look like a mistake to Steve, rather than an invitation to attack. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	He goes for the opening, picking up on his mistake just in time. The blaster still clips him, but he's still Captain America, and most of his opponents don't fight fair. Still, the combination of the clipping stun shot and the shift force him back onto the defensive briefly. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	He's not going to give his zombified opponent the chance to get back to the offensive. He stays on the offensive, driving him further back, and looking for another opening. He knows Steve Rogers' mistakes are small ones (when he makes them at all), mostly unnoticeable to others, but he knows how to spot them... and take advantage of them. Bucky is fortunate Cap can't throw his shield. The fighters aren't that far from evenly matched, but one is armed, the other isn't. Likewise, Steve isn't used to fighting with half a shield. Even so, he's making very few mistakes, pushing in closer while deflecting the blasts.
Bucky also has the edge of having worked with a fully trained Steve Rogers. He knows his style. Bucky, on the other hand, has learned a lot since Cap knew a version of him.
Eventually a shot gets through. Bucky has to go low, but Steve's leg goes numb, slowing his charge and briefly leaving an opening.

He's probably right. Cap lunges, trying to close the gap on his opponent, but Bucky has been doing this as long as he has, knows his moves. In the end, its a second slow, and he stumbles, then falls forward under the barrage.

He's still for a moment, then the undead thing tries to stand, reaching out a hand. "Bucky? Bucky, is that you? Something's wrong... give me a hand here."

He wants to believe him. He wants nothing more than to take Steve Rogers' hand, to guide him back to life.

And he slowly reaches out... but just as he takes the hand, a snarl forms on his lips.

"You... are NOT Steve Rogers!"

And he pulls hard on the hand, throwing this thing face-first towards an outcropping of sharp rock. It won't wear Steve Rogers' face anymore.

	There's a sickening crunch as hat was once Steve Rogers hits the rocks, sharp points plunging through its head and chest. The zombie struggles a moment, then goes still, the half a shield falling from lifeless fingers. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)
