With Great Power Comes... Shiny Faux Gold Belts, pt. 1
The Exiles disappear from the asteroid in the midst of massed armadas after the fight with Thanos, down two of their number. After the grandeur of space and sweeping cosmic nature of their last mission, its kind of a shock to the system to end up in a dusty parking lot outside a massive arena. Currently the place is empty, though signboards flash up some of the current events planned to take place there in the near future.
Just as pressing, of course, there's a couple new faces in their midst.

Sarah wasn't sure where Tasha came up with this kind of money, but just like when Spider got them a luxury hotel for one stopover, she's learned not to ask. Til they prove otherwise, she'll just assume her new teammates are worth trusting.
The Exiles are set up in a pair of nice rooms, one for the guys, one for the girls with a door between them. They skipped the restaurant, and went straight to room service so everyone who was in on fighting Thanos-zombies can get a shower and eat that much sooner.

As soon as everyone is cleaned up a little, weapons are stowed in the new bags, and otherwise they've made sure that everyone could at least pass for normal walking down the street, Sarah gathers the team together in one of the rooms. Sleep will have to wait.

"Ok, first things first. When we hit worlds that at least look fairly normal, if there's no sense of urgency, everyone can assume they'll keep the same jobs. We have a good store of money now - Tasha, or someone, keep it on your person at all times, or make sure someone is holding it. If we jump worlds, anything not with us and not part of our standard equipment won't make the jump. I've been to worlds where Magneto had his own money, where Reed Richards did, or money was useless... we'll need to make sure we have the right kind of currency and all before trying to spend any cash, but its still good to have, since most worlds seem to have some things in common."

She glances at the others. "Ok, that aside... hope everyone is enjoying the hot meal and clean room... we won't usually get this kind of luxury, or time to work out our mission... but its nice when we do. Tasha, between the internet and your digging around, what can you tell us about the UCWF, since the Tallus has basically confirmed our mission has something to do with it."

"Looks like in this world, Spider-Man did so well at his first wrestling gig that he stuck with it and never went into heroing at all, much less started the Spider Squad like in proper worlds. The main paradigm of the Unlimited Class Wrestling Federation seems to be tag teams. His partner's Ben Grimm. You know, little Frank Richards's godfather." Kev, classifying most American superheroes by their relationship to your mother's pediatric patients is kind of weird.

Dane listens to the information attentively, while cleaning his armor. He's showered, dressed in new clothing (with absolutely no protection, mind you), and tries to make sense of this wrestling business.

"So these...wrestlers, fight matches in teams, rather than singularly? Hm. That's no way to assess who is a worthy combatant who needs more training." he grumbles.

"So, if the Tallus is telling us about this, must we go their paymasters as a team and challenge them?" Dane asks, looking around the room.

"I could be wrong, but I think this is about entertainment as much as assessing skill. Tag teams, whatever that is, would let you mix people with different abilities and specialties... like, say, Ben Grimm and Spider-Man. Ben is a whole lot stronger and tougher, but Spider-Man, once he gets moving, is almost impossible to lay a finger on." She's fought one, and been teammates with another.

"Tasha, Kev, did you get any information on how people would join the UCWF, or what their requirements are? The Tallus seems to be indicating that that's what at least some of us need to do."

And I may not be getting everything, but the Tallus is going nuts at your mention of, erm, hinky business... there's something more going on here. Dani and I are going to need an agent too. I don't know anything about business and contracts. If there is something messed up going on, it wouldn't hurt to have a sneaky set of eyes near us either... Tasha... you've worked closely with Stark, and you can come and go from the girls' locker room with us. You want to manage a couple up and coming wrestlers while the boys look into whatever is going on behind the scenes?"

Natasha smiled at Kevin. "I got that covered, Kev. It just means I have to go shopping."

Natasha was an expert at disguises. She could stand next to any one of them and they'd never know it was her.

"Well, There isn' any way I can be of help with the wrestling, but we'd better start thinking about what shenanigans the Tallus might be worried about." Kev starts to look worried himself. "I mean, there's some pretty nasty possibilities for what kind of shady stuff could go on with fighting-type entertainment. There's all the regular ways it can be shady, and then there's... not so regular ways. I mean... anybody here ever had to deal with the Wildways Studio? And that big fat slug thing running it?" Kev shivered, just remembering the pictures, even if the name temporarily escaped him among the voices in his head.

Dane listens intently to the information being provided, trying to get a clearer picture of what will be needed for whoever's going to infiltrate this place.

An idea comes to him as he sits back.

"Does anyone think this place will need more guards? Perhaps a couple of us can get in that way as well?"

"Not a bad idea at all, Dane. I think the girls are going to be very busy, so it'll be up to you, Lester and Kev to figure out what's going on that we're missing. Tasha can play liason between the two groups. That's a good idea Kev - but like you said, there's /lots/ of ways this could be shady. Criminals using the UCWF as cover, covering up illegal mutant growth hormone, fixed matches if there's gambling allowed on this... or even if there isn't. You're going to have to be ready for anything. But trying to get one or two people in as extra security isn't a bad thought at all. Oh, and Tasha, Kev... between you guys, anyone know how to rig up ear bud communicators? We used to have them when Spider was with us, and he was able to rig up all sorts of futuristic stuff. They came in really handy."
