It was a small planet orbiting a gas giant in Shi'ar controlled space. The small chunk of rock didn't have any remarkable features on it and it held no resources to be utilized. It was rather insignificant as planets went, but it had been the site of a significant battle in the fate of the universe.

Dead bodies littered the ground and a silver surf board was stuck point down in the ground. Smoke billowed from wrecked space craft and blood, human and alien alike, seeped into the fine dirt covering the surface of the planet. It seemed unfitting for this barren place to be the final resting place of some of the finest heroes in the universe.

There was a flash of light.

Quinn kept his mouth shut (for a change) and stayed near Wrecker. Klaw was sealed inside the building and the other three were still bound by mystical bindings.

He did a quick check on the others.

Sarah was facing off against the Hulk.

Rose was squaring off against Screaming Mimi and Agnar.

So business as usual and unless they were in dire straights, he wasn't going to blow his cover so to speak. Quinn was just waiting for the right moment to take out the whacko he was following.

His other teammates should be getting here soon.

The Tallus let them know they were getting a Christmas present - it was that time in the world of KISS, so they were allowed to stay over for a concert, and to at least have some stability over the holiday.

Sarah almost would have preferred to miss it, stay on task, not have to think about the holidays or herself. They'd had to adapt a lot on Battleworld. Lack of trees meant using one of the local substitutes, but there were some growing crystals that looked amazing when lights were strung around them, reflecting off, and sometimes through the facets.
They hadn't had much sometimes, though the machines could produce most of what was needed. Mom and Dad both loved Christmas though. For Mom it was all about her closest approximations to baked goods and southern cooking, with a giant dinner and breakfast. There was learning carols in German from Uncle Kurt. They could go to one of the nearby regions for snowball fights and sledding.

But her favorite tradition of all was the one that was just her and her father. No matter how old she got, he insisted Santa Claus was real, and said he'd even met him once. Battleworld was far away from anything, but her father still insisted they sit on the roof of the base and keep a lookout, just in case.

Some of the others, it sounded like, were going to go for dinner and drinks and celebrate the holiday and a well deserved vacation. She assured them she'd be fine, but wasn't feeling very festive and just needed to rest before she finds the highest spot she can to settle in and stare at the sky.

I Want To Rock and Roll All Night, And Party Every Day Dec. 13th, 2009 @ 04:02 pm

Once they had decided to split up and approach this one from two different angles, Quinn teleported his small group to the location of the concert. They arrived outside of Madison Square Garden amidst the normal crowds of the New York Streets. Their sudden appearance went mostly unnoticed, maybe getting a second look or two but nothing more.

The concert was still two hours away.

"A'right, mates, let's go see what can be done here."

With a pop of displaced air, the Exiles appear in a new place.

Most of them immediately recognize the streets of New York city, even at night from the dark alley in which they have appeared: the Empire States Building and the World Trade Center's lights can be seen in the distance. Posters for bands and upcoming concerts plaster the walls. People pass by along the city streets.

"Okay, Sarah, what's the... hello?" Patriot's voice drops off as he notices that there's someone new with them.

In a New York Minute.... Oct. 14th, 2009 @ 07:15 pm

They arrived in New York a few seconds after leaving Moscow thanks to Blink. Quinn could have done transporting duty, but there was nothing wrong with sharing the work. It actually felt good to be moving again. They had spent a few days in Moscow while Wanda cleared the way for her to leave for a short while.

While they were waiting Natasha had filled them in with more information about this world and how bad it was. As bad as it was, there were a few small spots of hope. Natasha, God she was hot and Quinn would have shagged her in a second if Patriot wasn't already doing that, had told them that someone connected to New York's Hellfire Club was helping and harboring mutants. The identity of the "Angel of New York" was unknown, but Quinn believed they could find him or her.

There was also mention of Project Bifrost that the Red Skull was working on. There were no details about it since Natasha hadn't been able to find much about it. She said she had nearly been killed trying to get what little information she did get. Magneto had under the advice of an adviser decided not to pursue that matter. Quinn would bet money it had something to do with Thor.

Thor. Quinn bet if Thor had come to this Earth like he had in Quinn's dimension and others from the sound of what his teammates said, maybe the world wouldn't be like this. Or at least as bad.

Quinn looked around. It was quite obvious that this wasn't the New York he knew and loved. "Well mates, what's on our agenda besides getting some cash and finding a place to crash?"

Some Downtime (While Bucky is talking to Tasha) Oct. 4th, 2009 @ 01:15 am

Quinn was enjoying the few moments of downtime they seemed to have been blessed with by spending it out in Moscow. While he wasn't a mutant, he could pass himself off as one if needed. Only a telepath or a genetic scan would prove he wasn't one. First order of business was getting some cash. That meant a little transmutating of some stones into rubles. He was not above using magic for his own benefit.

With money in hand he set out and found the closest bar. Beer would have been nice, but the bar apparently only had watered down crap and Quinn was a beer snob. He only drank good beer and what the bar had was definitely not good beer. The burger was good and so was the vodka.

Once he was done eating, he headed for the closest clothing store and bought himself two new sets of clothes and a bag to carry them in. No way was he going to be stuck wearing the same outfit as they hopped from dimension to dimension. He would have bought a few pairs of shoes, but they were bulky and a pain to carry. His current ones were okay for now.

He headed back to the hotel.

Acts of Avenging, pt. 2 - Mother Russia Sep. 2nd, 2009 @ 09:27 am

The teleportation is far easier this time. Russia is a very, very big place, and there's no magical barriers or resistance.

In fact, there's not a lot of anything. Looking around the area where they come in, remote, in order to avoid notice, it would look like the village that was once here was struck with a bomb, save nothing is burnt. A wave of destruction radiates out from a central point, and everything from there is demolished. The foundations of houses sit bare, with wreckage strewn away from them. The signs of at least two mass graves aren't that well hidden not far away from the village. A few hastily put together crosses of sticks line the sites now, but this village is lifeless. A wooden sign, far enough on the outskirts to have survived whatever hit this place can still be read, at least by those who speak Russian.
Anzhero-Sudzhensk, population: 86,480

With all the flat land, in the distance on direction, the signs of cobbled together stick and cloth hovels can be seen, a few figures moving about, never staying out in the open too long. Much more distantly the opposite direction, the faint radiance of lights of what has to be a massive city can be somewhat discerned, but the place must be massive to be at all evident at this distance.

Sarah rises a bit off the ground for a slightly better view. "Gods. This is horrible."

Quinn was getting a lot better with his accuracy when teleporting. He had managed to set them down a few hundred yards outside of Doom’s castle. The last two attempts had been rather successful. The ones before had been failures as he had teleported himself a few miles away from where he had been aiming.

They were still invisible, but Quinn knew Doom would know they were here soon enough. Not much got past Doom, at least the one he knew and he didn’t think this one was too different. “Let’s get moving,” he said as he tried to ignore the dull throbbing in his head. He’d kill for a beer right now.

The villains are all either unconscious, or they've surrendered. They initially weren't saying anything about the teleport pad, but Patriot is able to demonstrate that he's found it and proven he has some idea how it works. They'll let them know, at least, that its locked - it can only bring people here or return them to base, its not an all-purpose teleporter. Any scans or checks seem to confirm that information, at least. To the degree anyone here knows teleporter technology, at least. They'll also inform them they're currently in the 'Free State of Australia', whatever that is. Otherwise, they're not being very helpful.

"So, options?"

This time its almost expected.

Just like their first mission last time, the Exiles show up in their first mission together 30' off the ground and falling. Sarah catches herself, switching to hover, and grabs for the nearest non-flyer, reaching automatically for her shield with the other hand.

The land beneath is parched, packed Earth, not much cooler than the desert they just left. The terrain all around is scrub, with some hardy trees and brush providing some cover and shade to the east, and otherwise a lot of nothing in most directions. Definitely nothing in the way of civilization.

The more things change... Jun. 2nd, 2009 @ 10:17 pm

The Exiles all find themselves transported from the desert to... well, another part of the desert.

In the middle of this flat area, however, an area of tiled floor sits, with a chalkboard set up on one edge. And all the Exiles sit in old-style school desks, mostly a little too small for them, wedged in however much needed.
A balding man stands by the chalkboard, waiting patiently for everyone to settle in and pay him heed after the sudden change of surrounds.

"Welcome... or welcome back, as the case may be. Coffee? Muffins?"

I've been through the desert... May. 28th, 2009 @ 05:47 pm

One moment she felt her lips on Anya's. It was a dream and nightmare come true, each in their own ways. The Talus sent a jolt up her arm, and suddenly instead of everything she'd gotten so used to, and the feel of her best friend and crush next to her, she felt warm wind, and a bright light made her shield her eyes against a scorching sun.

She knew right where she was. Back in the desert where everything had gone so horribly wrong. Even as alike as most deserts ended up, she somehow just knew.

Sarah sinks into the sand, drawing her knees up to her chest and settling her head on her knees, trying to collect her thoughts, trying hard not to cry, trying to be pulled together when someone else showed up.

The Timebroker can wait.
