Keeping a Promise
Anya had made a promise to Halbjorn and she was finally going to keep it. Keeping her word was very important to her and she wasn't going to start breaking it now. She left a message on Steve's phone telling him she'd be back late tomorrow night and was going to California to go sky diving with Halbjorn and checking on the Defenders' computer systems.

Commercial flights sucked, but she did at least go in first class on a direct flight to LA. From there she grabbed a cab to take her out to the compound.

Without her Avengers access, she had to do this the complicated way.

She rang the buzzer at the gate.

	She grinned. "I figured you would. I had arrangements made and special equipment brought in." Asgardians were a wee bit heavier than normal humans and a special chute would be needed. When they reached the cab, Anya climbed in and gave the driver an address. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	"I did something stupid and got in trouble." Anya shrugged, paid the driver and then took the offered hand. "It happens. I have a few more months. Then I'll be an Avenger again." She looked around and then waved when she saw their instructor. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	He leaps without hesitation, not really in proper position. That's ok, he has plenty of time. And he has to admit, it really is a rush. Its almost an afterthought when he starts trying to find the chute handle with his off hand. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	Anya stayed in a free fall as long as possible and then pulled her chute. She landed a little hard, but no broken bones or sprains. She was grinning like a mad fool from the adrenaline rush. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

Halbjorn does a pretty good HALO jump, getting down to where the Earth is getting pretty big before he pulls his chute. It extends, and does arrest his speed a little, but with almost half a ton to halt, its not nearly enough. There's the sound of tearing fabric, chutes just not meant to do that, and then a tremendous crash. Not near as bad as it could have been, but it shakes the ground pretty good anyway.

He sorts himself out, standing with a grin. "I see why thou likest this so, but methinks the chute ist the worse for it."
