The Coming Storm
Asgard had seen a rare period of peace. That peace was about to be shattered. Dark forces gathered in a far corner of the realm. Trolls, dark elves and giants fathered their forces and prepared for an assault on the city and the cursed Asgardians.

Soon the city would fall and Asgard would be theirs to rule.

Alfun looked at the assembled troops and smiled. They would make a great distraction. Alfrun knew they wouldn’t succeed in defeating the Asgardians and taking the city. Countless times they have tried and failed. The Asgardians always won.
Until today. The troops were a distraction until the real weapon could be brought onto the battlefield. With the two, the Asgardians would fall. This would be their Ragnarok. The final battle for them.

Alfrun ran her fingers lovingly over the parchment. How very nice of that dwarf to give her this wonderful piece of parchment. With it she could bring about the downfall of Odin, Thor and the rest of Asgard. Then she, Alfun daughter of Eisa and granddaughter of Loki, would sit upon the throne of Asgard as queen.

“Send them!” she said. “I have to start the ritual.”

Treg grunted and then bellowed orders. The troops started moving.

Odin nods to Aridis, and speaks aloud:

"Thou hast one of the greatest and most difficult parts to play of all.

When Odin hast been consumed, and the wolf lies dead,
Thor hast turned his sights to the final battle with Jormundgandr,
And the eldest daughter hast turned away from the throne to fly to her brother's aid,
One daughter of the royal line shalt come to serve.
But heavy ist the crown that Aridis Thorssdottir must lift,
And it shalt rest heavy on her brow.
It shalt weigh down all the thoughts of brighter days.
There shalt be no room left for folly or dalliance,
No place for vainglory or tales or drink.
And she, and the final sibling remaining to her wilt take their final stand, the last daughters of Asgard,
And they shalt fight back to back until lovely Aridis ist out of arrows,
And she shalt take up Odin's spear, and trust her sister with her back.

The final words of thy prophecy art written, but so obscured in sorcerous pacts and shadow that e'en I canst see it not.
Thy sister mayst betray thee, in which time, an evil being shalt destroy the throne of Asgard e'en as thou'rt watching from the floor, bleeding thy last.
If she ist true, then the throne shalt stand, a final monument to all we wert...
and though thine sister shalt die, if she is true to thee, then when the next day comes, Balder wilt bend his knee to thee, as the first Queen of the new age.
The crown shalt lose all the weight of worries and Ragnarok, and thou shalt be an enlightened and truly immortal being at last, the first guide to a new race of gods for a new age...
But ne'er shalt thee find thy childhood and wonder again for all thou hast seen.
Either way, it falls to thee... in life or death, thou wilt be the last Queen of Asgard."

Aridis doesn't look over joyed at all. The burden she knows that will come is a bit too much for her to hear. She would rather any of her siblings take the throne rather than her.

But she knows the truth of things. Fate can not be cheated and things will happen because they are meant to. She bows her head. "Thank thee All-Father."

Svalin looked over at her twin and felt the weight of guilt on her shoulders. If she could spare Aridis the burden of responsibility she would. Svalin had a warrior's heart and she knew nothing would keep her from fighting for her kingdom and for her family.

She looked away.

There would be a talk later if they survived this battle.
