Dancing with the Devil’s Past Has Never Been Fun
Natasha opened her eyes to all too familiar surroundings. S.H.I.E.L.D. Medical. She had been in this place way too much lately. She was beginning to think that S.H.I.E.L.D. had a special wing just for her family. At some point in the past year and a half each of them had been in here for various things.

What the hell happened? The last thing she remembered was being in Boston and looking for Tony with...James? Had it really been him? Had she imagined talking to him? She remembered him and Kraven of all people. Wasn't he supposed to be dead?

If only she could shake this fuzzy feeling she had in her head she'd be able to think and remember what happened. She remembered the bistro and looking for Tony and then the scuffle. She remembered a knife catching her in the shoulder. She touched it, but it seemed to be healed. What the hell happened and how long had she been out?

She had to get out of here and get some answers.

"I'm glad it's just a few broken bones," she said. "The suit can be repaired." When they got Tony and Anya back. "I don't know what happened and what do you mean Dad? What happened to him?"

"I don't know yet. I got a picture of him in strapped into some kind of machine. The doctors won't let me see him. Something about needing to be careful of his mental state when he wakes up. I'm giving them a chance to rethink it before I really get mad."

He kissed her cheek again and let her go to peer into her face. Not that he didn't think she was mostly okay, but all their recent experiences with kidnappings were coupled with brain washings. If she was going to go crazy all of a sudden, he'd rather it was with him and not Anya.

And thinking of Anya... "If they don't, I'll ask Brat to set off their fire alarms or something."

"He'll be fine. Talk to Nick about seeing him. He'll make them let you in." She paused and her face brightened. "Anya's back? What about Tony?"
