The mental summons went out, calling the six to Professor Xavier's office. Urgency, unusual in the usually composed founder and headmaster of the Institute, colored the psychic call. This was not a summons to be refused.

Joey walks in, shuffling a deck of cards, obviously the last one here. He nods at Professor X, who he still needs to talk to...and notes that he's currently surrounded by women.

One of which is girlfriend, another being the chick that showed up on the front porch. And there were a lot of people in this room that could read his mind, currently.

"Okay, I'm not big on the whole telepathy thing, so this is going to be a verbal conversation, right?" he says, looking around.

Once all six were there, the Professor began.

"Thank-you all for coming so quickly. I wish that the circumstances for this could be better, but I am afraid I have dire news instead."

He went on. "Earlier today, I dispatched a team of X-Men to investigate a large scale mutant signature that Cerebro detected in the Pacific.

"That team has yet to return and I have lost telepathic contact with them. Cerebro itself has failed to detect them as well. That either means that they are being shielded somehow, or..."

He refused to finish the statement.

"I wish that I had other options, but time is of the essence and my options are truly few. You six are the only ones available who can save them."

"I do not know, precisely, what the island entails," he told Joey, "though it was supposed to have been uninhabited."

If the Professor had picked up on their uncomfortableness with the mission or their selection, he showed no outward signs of it.

"I have prepared one of the smaller Blackbirds for you," he explained. "It can depart as soon as you are ready. Make haste. With each passing moment, I fear more and more for the missing X-Men!"

Someone was having waaaaaaaaay too much fun messing with her. What the hell kind of uniform was essentially a corset and knee boots with a cape? This was not going to stand. If they managed to not be dead by the end of this, Christina was going to demand a new uniform.

And bitchslap people until they got the message of She Was Not Her Mother.

Even if the boots were cool.

Flying?

It was a sad state of affairs that the last of those concerned Joey Allerdyce more than the first two. He hated flying. He also disliked telepathic mojo.

Joey sat in his seat on the plane and tried not to think about how far above the ground they'd be. He might even look a little green to some of his teammates.

"Humans were not meant to fly." he says aloud, which echoes in his mind.

"I've heard the same thing from anti-mutant protesters, 'Dyce."

She'd decked herself out in a new uniform variant she'd designed. Something sporting a bit more of an aggressive streak than her usual flavor.

"Trust me, you're safer on this than on a public bus. Besides--" She started flipping switches to ready for takeoff. "--it's not like we're going to the Savage Land, yet."

You don't go to the Savage Land without crashing.
