The Rescue
Quinn opened a portal and brought them all to Limbo.

They arrived in Limbo on what was a plain that stretched out in front of a castle. Nothing grew on the plain. It was dirt and rocks for as far as the eye could see. Demons moved about in the distance and along the battlements of the castle. For now they didn't notice the newcomers.

When the first few bounced off of him, they switched tactics. A bunch of them swarmed him at once, trying to bury him under demons.

Joe struggled for a moment against the weight and press. He mustered his strength and tried to throw some of them off or away.

Some went flying off of him and went crashing into others. They turned on the ones that collided into them.

Some held on, ripping and tearing at Joe's clothes as they did. More demons swarmed in,

Great. There went another shirt.

Joe needed space. He brought his hands together as quickly as he could, in a sonic boom.

Demons went flying back, knocking down their brethren in the process. Those hit were quick to turn on each other.

The demons pressed on, but they were more wary of the big man.

Joe kept moving, throwing a punch here and there to scatter the horde.

The demons did scatter from Joe's punches. Some in the back unleashed blasts of fire and mystical energies at him while others kept up the attack with claws.

The fire and mystic blasts, at least, got his attention. They weren't doing him much lasting harm--much, anyway, magic was always tricky--but they stung. A lot.

He brought his foot down heavily, in a seismic stomp.

The ground shook and demons all around him fell to the ground. They didn't stay down long. They started climbing to their feet.

"Oh, for Pete's sake..." Joe muttered under his breath. He broke into a run toward the castle.

The demons in front of him were plowed aside while others tried to grab him. Some gave chase. They howled in frustration as none of their claws could gain purchase or make a mark on him.

Joe would never be as fast as, say, a Quicksilver or a Northstar. But he could still get up enough speed to, say, keep up with a car.

Demons were nothing. Joe just kept moving.
