The Best Stitched Plans @ 12:00 am

Chris grumbles as she rolls over in a patch of sun in the rec room. She's in human form, but some habits stick no matter what shape she's taking. "All that work for nothing... such a waste.."

It hadn't occurred to her until after she'd already stitched half a dozen teddy bears together, using up some of her favorite remnant fabric swatches, that she found out Toys For Tots didn't accept handmade toys. It wasn't that being out her originally intended donation was that much of an inconvenience, but she still felt rather burned by the effort falling short.

As the head of a billion dollar international company, Margaret Donovan-Stark was a very busy woman. Her days consisted of meeting after meeting and dinner usually ended up being a dinner meeting. It took a lot of effort and energy to run Stark Inc., but Margaret was enjoying every second of it.

The weapons development and research was now running at full steam and had taken all of her focus and energy. Stark Inc was once again a major player in the weapons industry and the government contracts were coming in. Not to mention contracts from private security companies, many of which used to be competitors but were now customers. The contracts and money were coming in and the stock price was starting to rise again after the hit it took during the transition.

Despite her very busy schedule, she took time out when her scientists in research and development called her. She stepped out of the elevator and into the lab.

"Ah Ms. Stark, so glad you could come down here. We have made significant progress with our recent project," the chief scientist said as he fell into step along side of her. "If you would allow me to show you?”

“Excellent. Proceed.” she said. If this project panned out, the company would make billions in government contracts not only from the United States government, but from others like Great Britain and other friendly governments.

“The prototype for the unit is finished, however….”

“Is there a problem?” she asked.

“Oh no, ma’am. Just the opposite. There was an unexpected possibility and my team is currently researching ways to make it work. If this proves to be feasible, not only will we be able to do containment, we should be able to use the subject’s abilities to our own benefit.”

“Interesting,” she carefully said, not allowing him to see any reaction either way. “Keep me informed.” She started to walk toward the door.

“There is the matter of our research budget, ma’am,” he said as he walked after her.

Margaret paused. “You will have what you need.” The development money would be mere pennies compared to what this would bring in if the idea worked. She left the lab.

Deck The Halls (open and bendytimed to fit in) @ 02:04 am

Syd took a step back and admired the results of the day's work so far. The main building was looking a bit more festive after Sarah, Griffen, and Syd, started decorating for Yule and Christmas. Boughs of real ivy, fir, holly and evergreens were put up all through the house. Mistletoe was also put in strategic places and candles were scattered throughout the house. Syd didn't ask where it all came from, but she suspected that Asleif had been talked into transportation duties to gather the greens.

The tree they had managed to find was huge, standing at least ten feet tall, but had easily been carried in by Svalin. The tree was bare at the moment. Syd had decided to leave that to last to allow everyone a chance to help decorate it. Thankfully there had been a ton of decorations in the attic and they would have more than enough to decorate the tree.

The place smelled of evergreen and fresh greens, giving one the sense of being out in a forest. The candles were scented of cinnamon and vanilla, but currently unlit at the moment.

Zoey was going to have the best Christmas this year and Syd was so thankful she could provide it with the help of the Defenders. Syd's shopping was almost done and it had been difficult as hell. What exactly did one get gods, a geek, a magic user and an actor for Christmas? Getting Zoey gifts had been easy by comparison. Though Zoey would not be getting a daddy for Christmas.

Syd sipped the mulled wine that they had made earlier. Once the decorating was done, Sarah and Syd would start the baking. She predicted that over the next few days the two of them would make obscene amounts of baked goods. The problem would be keeping the others from eating it all at once.

Syd looked at the clock. Zoey would be out of school soon then they could start decorating the tree.

Wen Leong was satisfied with the progress he was making. Thanks to Virgo, he had complete control over one of the Tongs in San Francisco and was well on his way to taking over another one. He could have moved faster, but he was patient. He was in no rush to take over the Tongs all at once. Slow and methodical was much preferable than quick and possibly messy.

Wen didn’t want to attract too much attention. No one except Therese knew all of his plans and he wanted to keep it that way. He didn’t want anyone finding out or be able to predict his next moves. Deception was the key and the way to achieve his goals.

When he was done he would be in full control of the San Francisco underground.

Val sat at her desk at in her office/lab at the Baxter Building, working on an essay for one of her college applications. She was a little late getting them in, so early action wasn't definitely out of the picture, but that was only invented to make applicants sweat out the process a little bit longer.

She didn't know where she wanted to go yet. She was going to be too young to live in a dorm, as she wouldn't be turning eighteen until well into her freshman year, so she wanted something close. But something with a good science department. Something that would give her a challenge. A program that would keep her on her toes.

Essays were the easiest part. If the school had a prompt, you wrote an essay based on that prompt. If not, then you just wrote the same essay for each school and just replaced the name of the college.

Hearing a knock on her door, Val perked her head up.

"Come in."
